Follow the critically acclaimed release 'Walking On H2O', Lion music have re-released Mind's Eye’s second album 'Waiting For The Tide' with two additional bonus tracks. Although the period between 'Waiting For The Tide' and 'Walking On H2O' was some four years, the bands progression from this album to 'Walking On H2O' is not that vast. Both albums still have that progressive rock nuance that will keep fans enthralled at the brilliance of the young Daniel Flores and Frerik Grunberger, together with the majestic vocals of Andrea Novak. The album gets off to a magnificent start with ‘Frozen Tears’ and just continues to build on this firm foundation and carries on the grandiose progressive feel with ‘Calling (father to son)’. The progressive splendour in continued with ‘A Pond Of Thought’ with its Rush like qualities of varying tempo changes and thought provoking lyrics. The next song is the first of part of a two-parter entitled ‘Spirits in the Room’. The first part being ‘Closer’, a mix of swirling melodies and heavy bass lines that builds into a crescendo as it becomes part two ‘In My Mind’, which is the more intense second half of ‘Spirits in the Room’. ‘Primitive Light’ hits on the heavy subject matter of racism. Although the subject matter may be heavy, the band still remain true to the progressive feel of the album, with some of the most melodic pieces on the album are to be found on this track. From the
sombre melodies of ‘Primitive Light’, the tempo is picked up a
little on the excellent ‘Jealousy In Disguise’, leading the way to
the majestic soundings of ‘Fall On Trust’. Although both these
two songs are topped by my favourite track off the album the haunting
‘Circles In The Sand’.
