Artist:  Mithras
   Title: Time Never Lasts MCD
   Label: Candlelight Records

This UK based metal duo has released this MCD as a precursor to their new album.  Their death metal sound has gone from strength to strength since their first album in 2007 on Candlelight Records.  Since forming in 1998, the past 14 years have brought them to the fore of the UK metal scene, changing over this period like a symbiotic being, but only for the better – culminating in experimental brutal death metal focusing on legends, history and planar travel (travelling from one realm of the world to another).

The MCD has two tracks from the new album, and three live tracks.  The first track, 'Time Never Lasts', uses a long intro filled with heavy guitar and drum work before leading into the growl of the vocals.  The repetitive staccato drumbeat separates each part of the song from the rest of it, and then fades back into the background with the guitar.  The skills of both members are visible from the start, able to bring their mix of heady yet deep and dark music together into greater coherence than I’m usually used to with death metal.

The second track, 'Inside The Godmind', uses a different tone of guitar, this time higher and harsher due to this.  The drums however, soon take over the rest of the song and com e to the fore before the vocals are growled out.  The songs sound different from the first, and this difference is really hard to describe adequately.  The live songs are just as brutal as their studio efforts and this really makes you want their album to come out.
