Artist: The Modes
   Title: Revolution
   Label: Independent Release

The Modes have been described as infectious rock/punk and that is a good description of this four piece from the North East of England. Their style is late 70's pop punk a little reminiscent of early New York Dolls without the makeup.

The first track 'Revolution' is a high-octane guitar based track with a very retro sound very much like the band Johnny Zhivago in many respects.

The next track 'Want It And Need It' is more of the same with more of a Jilted John feel to it.  The sixties style guitar is once again very strong in the final track 'Let Me Know' and is the strongest track on the EP by far.

The only criticism I have about the band is that they need to loose that retro guitar sound and get into something a little more harder if they want to advance to the next stage in their careers as a band. But this aside I wouldn’t dismiss this EP altogether.
