Artist: Vinnie Moore
Title: Collection - The Shrapnel Years
   Label: Mascot Records

Its been many a long year since Vinnie first started as a guitarist in his own right.  Remember the Pepsi advert back in 1987? ... ah those were the days!

Since those humble beginnings Vinnie Moore's career has escalated.  His much acclaimed debut release ‘Minds Eye’ got his name on everyone’s lips at the time,  and since then he has appeared on stage with the likes of UFO, Steve Vai and Alice Cooper and has opened up for the likes of Rush.

This collection covers the years Vinnie was on Shrapnel Records in the late 90s, hence the title, and although is not a complete history of the man and his work, it's more a small sample of his talent that only covers a few years, but showcases brilliantly the quality of his guitar playing which is second to none.

All the tracks are exceptional, with the likes of ‘The Maze’, ‘Cryptic Dream’ and ‘Alexander the Great’ being the ones that really captivate me.  I’m sure Vinnie’s fans will have their own favourites.  There may well be tracks that his fans think should be on this collection, but all in all this album is dedicate to fans of not only good guitar playing, but great guitar playing.

Let's hope Vinnie's new album ear marked for later this year brings as much pleasure to fans old and new as his previous projects have over the years.
