After
receiving fantastic reviews for their 5 track CD 'Don't Look Now I'm
Leaving', the Peterborough based quintet were signed up by SPV to start
work on their first full length album the result being 'The Wolves Are
Hungry'.
The album gets off to a blistering start with 'Violate' a track that had
metal head written all over it with its rolling drum beat and ripping
guitar work, its obvious from the off that these guys mean business. But
there is more to them than just trashing about as the second track 'Near
Extinction' shows that they have put some thought into the lyrical
content of the songs.
These aren’t the usual young band who seem to carry the world on their
shoulders and let the world know of their woes these are five guys who
have put their views down in music and are letting the rest of the world
make of them what they will.
With tracks like 'Suck on These Words' and the excellent 'Paralysed' in
their repertoire they are certainly on their way up, both these tracks
show the band at their very best with thunderous guitar and bass very
reminiscent of Korn at their best.
And what can be said of 'Born Freaks' I don’t know if they were going
for the Coal Chamber vibe with this track but it is very reminiscent of
said band. The inclusion of a short instrumental mid way through the
album is only a rest bite for the heavy sound of 'Friend Turned Enemy'
and 'A Price on Your Head'.
Talk about leaving the best till last, the intensity of the final and
title track 'The Wolves Are Hungry' a track that any heavy band would be
proud to have as one of their own.
This is a very mature album that will make a lot of people sit up and
take notice of this British band and that isn’t happening as often as
it should be.
