Artist: Mostly Autumn
   Title: Last Bright Light

Mostly Autumn are a British band who play a heady mix of folk/rock/progressive combined with a Celtic flavour with even the occasional nod to Pink Floyd.

The Last Bright Light is their third album and is once again a mixture of superb musicianship and excellent vocals from Heather Findlay, who along with Rachel Jones of Karnataka has one of the best female voices around at the moment.

With Bryan Josh's guitar and Iain Jennings' keyboards combining to produce atmospheric and haunting music one minute and an uptempo number or jig the next this CD always keeps your interest with its constant change of tempo and mood.

Standout tracks are Prints in the Sand which uses flute and whistles to produce a great melody. Helms Deep starts as a flute led jig and builds into an ending of stunning guitar work. Shrinking violet shows off Heather's voice at its best as the song builds with a chorus you can't get out of your head before the guitar takes over.

Final track Mother Nature sums the band up perfectly in one track, great vocals, time and mood changes, even an acoustic section before the guitar and keyboards kick in.

I seem to remember someone once saying 'if it don't rock it ain't worth it', well this may not be rock in the strict sense but it is well worth it. Give this album a listen as this a great British band who are just getting better and better.
