It just goes to show that no matter what age you are, or how long you've been in bands before, your experience will always stand in your favour in the long run, and this is what Nail have in abundance. After favourable reviews for their first self-titled release, they show everything they've got with 'Power And Greed', which is a powerhouse collection of songs that will leave you wanting more by the end, wondering just where they can go next time. The strength behind some of the songs here exceed any attitude, which unfortunately for some bands, they think all you need to get by these days, but Nail put that rumour to shame good and proper. well, they don't seem to need it when they can sound like this, do they. Formed by ex-members of "Hair Metal" band Helix, Rainer and Cindy Wiechmann bought in bassist Darcy Maudsley and drummer Dale Penney to offer up the type of music that will frighten your parents and kill off your granny! It's hard, furious guitar-driven songs are belted out one after the other without a care in the world, with solos galore, mean n' moody bass hooks, and plenty of snarling, yet rhythmic tub thumping. All this is put together to back up Cindy's powerful vocals which help the band to be put way about any other female led acts out there at the moment. They do have their subdued moments, but they are few and far apart which doesn't take away the fact that this album .... ROCKS!! Throw in the fact their live concerts include co-coordinated videos, then what more would you want from a hard rock act like nail? It's just a pity that with an album as good as 'Power And Greed', they are still looking to be signed up by an industry label / management, so if I were in their shoes, I'd get them aboard as quick as possible before the band run out of patience with the business, which would be a sad day for all involved and for hard rock lovers as well.
