We already know what a hot bed of everything rock orientated the Swedes have covered in abundance and time after time another fine slice of Rock comes out of that Scandinavian quarter, this time it's Neondaze. Neondaze are a band who deliver good hard hook filled rock of the highest calibre that really appeals to my old Glamster side, but with just a touch of pure Hard Rock that also floats my boat, so this band really appeal to me and have everything I could ever want in a rock band. That being style, big riffs, a huge guitar sound and a fantastic vocal presence, so basically this band are on to winner from the off in my books. The band of Lars Boquist, Jesper Lahn, Hampus Landin and Marcus Lundgren deliver huge anthemic Hard Rock, right from the opener ‘Intoxicated’ with the vocals of Lundgren and the guitar work of Boquist having the biggest impact on the album, with Lundgren shining throughout the album as a vocalist, who should really start up a stir amongst the genre’s army of fans. He has to be the find of the century. Along with Boquist’s outstanding guitar licks this album simply rocks! This album keeps you interested as the tremendous rocker ‘Critical Mass’, which kicks in with Boquist’s extremely flamboyant guitars then those wondrous vocals of Lundgren take over and it's all systems go, with the backbone of bassist Lahn and the towering drums of Landin just adding to the sheer bliss that this track brings. I was sold with the first two tracks of this tremendous album but things just get even better as the high octane rock continues with ‘Live 4 Tonight’ and the superb seminal ballad ‘Caroline’. The hard rocking continues with the riff laden ‘Million Miles’ and the Girl like ‘Hold Me’, before one of the many tracks of the album the funky feel of ‘Livin’, a great mid tempo rocker that rocks big style. There is a real sleaze factor to this band that really appeals to me as a fan of Motley and LA Guns. This album has all that 80’s stylings but with a more contemporary edge that makes it sound fresh and not dated. The album goes from strength to strength with the likes of ‘Stop Crying’, the hard rocking ‘Evil In Mind’ and the rip snorting ‘Traitorous’, with the bands own Ballad Of Jane to end the excellent ‘Oullbemi Vampire’. As 2008 comes to a close the number of high class albums coming my way is quite astounding and again the lack of commercial success for bands in this genre in the UK is criminal. I’m afraid this is one band that I will not catch live unless I take a trip across the North Sea or the band hook up as support on a UK tour, which is a shame because I’m sure these guys will go down a storm here in the UK. We're just crying out for these sort of bands to break the stranglehold the ready made for TV bands have on the UK market.
