Artist: NFD
   Title: Dead Pool Rising
   Label: Jungle Records

After the critical acclaim they received for their debut release ‘No Love Lost’ in 2004, the band have returned once again to turn the Goth rock scene into turmoil with their new album ‘Dead Pool Rising’.

NFD want to take the eighties Goth scene and bring it screaming and scratching into the now whether they like it or not, and with this new release they are certainly making their case felt with an album of relentless massive guitar riffs and the dark unforgiving vocals of Bob White powering their way throughout the album.

The album opener and the first single off the album 'Light My Way' is a prime example of this, with it's definite eighties Goth background sound, although it has a much more raunchy guitar sound that the eighties sound seemed lacking in some quarters.

The album continues to throw the idea of Goth rock into the virtual blender with eighties punk and electronic fusion, the resulting musical smoothie is pure NFD.  With the likes of ‘My Possession’ and  ‘Descent’ as prime examples of this mix. But the band still retain that dark sense of impending doom that is normally associated with the genre with the menacing ‘Black Sun’ and even more ominous ‘Senseless’.

The album closes with what is probably my favourite track off the album ‘Dead Pool’, which gives White a chance to be even more menacing as a vocalist, while the rest of the band fill your head with dark thoughts as they slowly get into your subconscious.  The track slowly trundles into a heavy bass and distorted guitar frenzy that will mesmerize you and leave you feeling violated at the same time.

I’m sure that after the release of this album NFD will be on the lips of every Goth in the country as one of the pioneers of a new fresh Goth rock sound.
