Artist: Nightvision
Title: As The Lights go Down
   Label: Rocksector Records

Hailing from darkest Lincolnshire Nightvision are a one of those rare breed, a British Hard Rock band with vision (pun intended).

The band is brothers Daryl and Dean Hocking, Neil Wallis and Dave McKee, together they are Nightvision.

The band deliver an old school hard rock that has the most important ingredient a freshness.  Yes it's old school but they bring it back up to date with some great guitar riffs, fantastic vocals entwined with great melodies and rhythms.

The album opens up with ‘After Dark’ and straight away you're hit with that old school metal guitar vibe, but it's when the vocals of McKee kick in that the whole spectrum of the band changes and that now factor hits you.  There’s a power and angst in the vocals that have that METAL punch. Those same punchy vocals are in abundance on the next song ‘Sick And Tired’.  A harder edged track that really stands out from the rest with the guitars of Wallis really going for the jugular on this one.  The punishing rhythm section of Daryl Hockling drums and brother Deans bass really stamp their mark on this track big style, especially the power metal double kick of Daryl.

There’s more than a touch of the True Blue Metal vibe throughout the album, but it’s the dark vibe of ‘Something Better’ and the massive ‘Mine All Mine’ that are next.

That True Blue Metal feel comes to a head with the track of the album the fantastic ‘Sentenced To The Gallows’, a great track with some great guitar sections.  Once again McKee is the shining light of the track, his vocals range is so vast he can sound both melodic and powerful at the same time.  A great trait in a vocalist.

The band turn it up a notch or two with a much heavier tones of ‘Nightmare’ before doing a complete switch with the more mellow tones of the metal ballad ‘Enough Of You’.

This band have a great future if they can reproduce this same vibe on stage.  The band are ready for the big time and with such monsters like ‘Sentenced To The Gallows’ and ‘King For A Day’ behind them, the lights might be going down but only to let the spotlight shine on.  One the best new British Metal bands I’ve heard for a long time.
