‘Consequence of Sin’ is Lincolnshire Melodic Metallers Nightvision’s follow up the their 2009 debut release ‘As The Lights Go Down’. With this new album the band consisting of Dave McKee, Bolda and brothers Daryl and Dean Hocking, have put together a great mix of heavy riffs wrapped around a melodic metal vibe, all capped off by the vocal force of frontman Dave McKee. This is ballsy British Metal at its finest. The album gets off to a great start with ‘So Many Lies’, it's just straight up Melodic Metal with more bite than a pit of rattlesnakes, a huge riotous rhythm section interwoven with some monstrous metal licks which form the backbone for McKee to deliver a superb vocal. As the line goes ... “first impressions mean so much” .. has never been so apt because as an opener, this is first class The all metal attack continues with ‘Sob Story’, again a rich vein of guitar licks runs through this attack on the no talent B-Lister’s that seem to dominate the music business these days. It's hard hitting all the way with the thumping ‘Words Like Bullets’, before things get a little funky with the bass ridden ‘Long Way From Home’. Then we return back to the Melodic Metal with the stunning ‘Nowhere To Hide’, which is a little ‘Dark Horse’ Nickelbackesque in basis, but with a little more edge from another monstrous bass mid section. Next up is pure Nightvision with the pounding riffs courtesy of Bolda on ‘Find Me’ and the electrifying power driven ‘What Makes You Bad’, although really putting that pedal to the METALLLLL!! is the explosive force of ‘Enter Escapism’. There isn’t any recovery time on this album as it's all systems go with the melodic riffs of ‘Nothing To Lose’, before bringing in a little old school to proceedings with the rocker ‘Petrol & Practice’. Then it's back to the heavy riffs and big rhythm section for ‘Mirror & Smoke’. The album closes with
another high octane rocker in the shape of ‘Post Tour Blues’, which
wraps up a great second album and I must say, this band have the talent
behind them to make it big on the world stages, so don’t be surprised
if you see Nightvision on the European Festivals circuit next year, they
certainly deserve it. |
