Hailing from Dublin Parhelia are four-piece instrumental band whose music is described as modern, refined atmospheric rock, which is a pretty good definition of their musical style. This EP is a good showcase for the Dublin quartet with the varying tempo changes on each of the five tracks on the EP giving the band greater depth. Right from the opener ‘First Light’ with its atmospheric guitars and haunting melody, to the intense grunge feel of ‘Cloudbreak’ with its tuned out guitar sound, over to the harder edged sound of ‘Ebb/Flow’, the band have captured the moods and feelings without the use of words to great effect. The EP closes with a great musical composition in the form of ‘Waves Turn’, a track that simply lifts away the cares of the world off your shoulders and carries you off to a more tranquil place were the music is the only thing in your life and at that moment in time that’s all you care about. Great riffs and melodies and a wonderful EP to put on after a hard stressful day at work. Just sit back and let the music take over your life for a few minutes so you can feel human once again.
