Artist: Pathosray
   Title: Sunless Skies
   Label: Frontiers Records

Hailing from Italy, Pathosray are a Prog Metal band who are on the fast track to international stardom.  Having already made appearances at the Prog Power Festival and Prog Power Europe events, after releasing just one album, you can't help but wonder just how far they'll go with this their second and most powerful slice of Prog Metal ‘Sunless Skies’.

The first few seconds of this album made me a bit wary of what was to come.  The almost Death/Dark Metal during those first few seconds are soon dissipated into the dark corners of your mind and what you're left with is a Herculean album that will simply rock your world, if you're into this genre.

After the first few doubting moments of the opener 'Crown Of Thorns', the track really shows the real Pathosray as being a hulking metal masterpiece.  But things get even better as each track is unleashed, none more so than on the terrific ‘Behind The Shadows’ and the Symphonic spectacle that is ‘Aurora’.

But these are just the first three tracks and this album has ten truly fantastic tracks that are just huge.

The riff filled ‘Quantic Enigma', complete with Hammond Organ.  The gentle semi ballad ‘In Your Arms’ and the Prog lovers delight that is ‘Sons Of A Sunless Sky’.  A huge track that has more twists and turns than a bucket of snakes.  A track that is only outshined by the eight and a half minute epic ‘Poltergeist’, which is a truly grandiose slab of Progressive Metal and is my personal favourite from what is a great album.

Definitely a band to look out for in the coming months
