Here’s one for all the AC/DC, Krokus and new boys Airbourne fans out there as a new Swiss rock storm is coming your way in the form of Polution.

Formed in 1997 the band played mainly covers but in the spring of 2007 the band decided to take that onward step and record an album of original material and the result is the hard rocking sensation Overheated which the band take their influences from fellow Swiss band Krokus with just a hint of Angus and the boys for good measure.

The band led by the grinding hard rock vocals of Pascal Gwerder don’t pull any punches with this album its Hard Rockin all the way from the opener ‘Reality’ to the closing assault of Five Years the band keep it hard and fast.

The opening barrage of ‘Reality’ really set the pace with its grinding AC/Dc style licks and bouncy style and the thunderous rhythms of Andreas Betschart on bass and Armin Betschart on drums really ignites the rock n roll flame and with the guitar wizardry of Marcel Betschart leading the charge this one ranks as one of the best feel good openers I’ve heard for a long time.

The beat is brought down just a touch with ‘Hard Work’ an anthemic rocker with some rich licks laid down by Marcel.

Gwerder has such a gravely Hard Rock   voice that has that old school British Rock feel that really takes this old heart back a few years to when denim and leather were all you needed to be a rocker.

Things are brought up a notch or two with the excellent title track ‘Overheated’ and my personal favourite ‘Same S*** Different Day’ with its with its Southern Blues Rock feel almost ZZ Top in places, you can almost smell the blue grass with this one.

The band keep it going with the gentle metal vibe of ‘Love It Or Hate It’ before the band show their gentile side with the semi-acoustic ballad ‘Don’t Know’ a real break from the all out rock and is a real tear jerker that makes you want to take out your lighter and wave it around the room.

Its back to the rock with ‘Paid Soul’ and ‘Obsessed’ two top notch old school rockers that bring a warm glow to this diehard rockers heart.

Before the band bring it down again with the Cowboy Metal of  ‘Going Down’ think Young Guns II meets The Wildhearts.

Its full steam ahead to the end of the album with ‘Sweet Little Girl’ ‘Wicked Moment’ and ‘Creation of Hate’ before the album closes with ‘Five Years’ a gentle rocker that rounds of a great feel good album. As I’ve said before Switzerland isn’t all Clocks and Choc it also ROCKS!
