The
Poodles debuted in 2006 with the release of 'Metal Will Stand Tall',
an album that on the heels of the band’s appearance at the Eurovision
song contest with the song 'Night Of Passion', was catapulted on the
top of the national charts in Sweden. Two more singles were released
from the album and both hit platinum and gold status respectively! So
that’s how this wealth of Swedish talent took the world by storm and
since then they haven’t looked back. Another two studio albums later
and the momentum's still a breakneck speed, only now it's time to let those who haven’t
tasted the band in the live arena yet an opportunity to do so, and what better way than a live
album. So here it is ‘No Quarter’, a true celebration of the last three
albums and a true feel of what this band can do live. Although
there is a DVD to accompany the CD, it’s the CD that I’ve
been sent to review, so you like me will just have to use your
imagination and
feel the live performance in your head, but this doesn’t matter because
this is a real gem of an album. Some
live albums doesn’t live up to expectations but this one certainly
does. There is
an energy that comes across even on CD that this band really enjoy playing
live. Like
I said this is a celebration of the bands three studio albums and with so
many of my personal favourites on the album I don’t have to dig out
the originals, this I my perfect compilation album of pure Poodles joy. So
with great songs like ‘Caroline’, the superb ‘Seven Seas’, the
anthem that is ‘Metal Will Stand Tall’, ‘Thunderball’ and so
much more, (even the drum solo is top notch), this is the perfect companion
to accompany the studio albums. I would highly recommend adding the DVD
to your Christmas list ( I know I am!) because if the CD is anything to
go by, it's going to be a corker! |
