Seven
Seals is the 6th studio release from one of Germany premier
metal acts Primal Fear and with this album they have brought a new fresh
almost progressive metal sound.
Seven Seals has all the right ingredients to make this a metal classic,
the mix of rhythmic guitars are heavy bass mixed with the powerful
vocals of Ralf Scheepers make this album a landmark release and one all
aspiring metal bands should strive to replicate.
Opening up with 'Demons And Angels' the standard is set its pounding
rhythm section take hold from the off then its time for Scheepers
unmistakable vocals to come in and totally take control of the track.
'Rollercoaster' the second track carries on the onslaught with its
up-tempo feel and majestic guitar riffs. But the standards of excellence
are taken to new heights with the title track and first single off the
album 'Seven Seals'. The sheer quality of the track can hardly be put
down in words its splendour and vividness makes this a metal anthem for
future generations.
How do you follow 'Seven Seals' well you don’t you take another fork
in the road and go around, and this is what the band have done and went
into a full speed blitz for the next few tracks 'Evil Spell' and 'The
Immortal Ones'. Then it's back to the more progressive sound with 'Diabolus'
complete with orchestral backing its more of the same quality as 'Seven
Seals' and with a mid section narrative it adds a little extra class to
the track.
'All For One' just showcases the varied vocal range of Scheeper as he
goes from metal god to metal banshee in a mater of seconds and the
guitars on the track aren’t that bad either.
'Carniwar' has to be one of my favourite tracks off the album not just
for the title but for the its pulsating drums and ear piercing vocals.
The album is brought to a close with another change in direction with
the metal ballad 'In Memory' a great way to end a truly
magnificent album.
