Artist: The Priory
   Title: Freeworld
   Label: Brazen Records Limited

Every now and again a CD lands on my desk that both surprises me and excites my at the same time.  I've had great problems finding the time to review this release by The Priory because I've spent that much time listening to it in the car that I haven't actually had the time to site down and write it up. The truth is I've been somewhat selfishly enjoying it so much I'd forgot the real reason it landed on my desk in the first place.

This is pure electro bliss, plain and simple.  As a teen of the 80's who frequented more dodgy clubs than was probably healthy, this is the kind of music I have craved for a long time.  Whereas Freeworld hints towards Bauhaus, True Emotion leans more towards The Cure and The Smiths.  However, my personal favourite of the three tracks on this release has to be the gorgeous soundscape of Social Hand Grenade.  A song that reminds me of a more modern favourite The Killers.

Indeed The Killers have had massive success over here in the UK these last couple of years, however, I tip The Priory to not only match them in their success, but exceed them if they put their minds to it and get the breaks they deserve.

This is one band I ache to see perform live.  Mr Nokia, if you're reading this then put these lads on your next 'New School of Rock' tour.  These guys are so hot to trot they're blistering.

I for one will be keeping a very close eye on how this particular band progress.
