Artist:  Project X
   Title: D Generation
   Label: 100% Rock

Project X is a tradition of uniting some of Australia’s most prominent metal musicians.  Project X last released an album 15 years ago.

Featuring members from bands such as Black Steel, Allegiance, Trilogy, The Siren, Tower, Glamnation, Ragdoll and others, this band has elements of Power Metal along with Iron Maiden, Manowar, Scorpions and Accept and has influences from Primal Fear, Dream Evil and Hammerfall.

This is an intense album which has its heavy moments, and softer moments, but it doesn’t disappoint at all.

'Whipping Boy' kicks off the album, it is a moody and intense number and even includes an AC/DC line ... "loose lips sink ships”...  but they get away with it and 'Whipping Boy' is a worthy opener to this album

With an "ooo uh oo uh" we have 'Last Man Standing', a really catchy number.  I really like Matt William's (Black Steel) vocals, and he excels himself on 'Last Man Standing' and 'Firefight', there is a definite Bon Scott vibe with these two tracks.

The mood slows down to 'Alive', which is a fantastic song with really heart felt lyrics and outstanding chugging guitars.  The sultry, dulcet tones of Sandra Calvezzi (Countdown) really complement this track, I found it kind of mesmerising.  I actually think this is one of the best tracks on this whole album, which is saying something.

The Angels 'Take A Long Line' is covered, this is a blistering version which The Angels would be proud of.

Spiraling guitars start the gripping and insane, inspiring 'Hollow', very clever intense lyrics such as ... “I must be losing my mind from watching parallel lines” ... it is simply brilliant.

The title track 'D Generation' is up next and is a snappy number with a catchy chorus, then we have the albums second ballad 'Writing on the Wall', get your lighters out for this one.

Drums coming at you next, full speed ahead as we head into the frenzy that is 'My Enemy', with awesome drumming from Rick Lovett (Glamnation), this is another stand out track.

'On With The Show' is a track the Scorpions never wrote!  The pace slows up a notch for 'Heart of Stone' and the excellent 'Demigod'.  This Brilliant album finishes with 'I Am', a song that thunders along and is another of my favourites on D Generation.

I would highly recommend this album, it has everything you could want whether you are mid paced rockers to out-and-out in your face rockers.  I hope this album gets some proper recognition as it is a fantastic offering from some of Australia’s finest Metal Heads.
