Artist: Purity Jar
   Title: Head To Toe
   Label: Independent Release

So far this is an unreleased copy of the bands single containing two of their most popular and strongest songs to date. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, this four piece really know how to impress a punter.

This single actually features their original singer Sharron who has since left the band. Hence the reason why it hasn't been released to the public at large. However their new singer is equally as talented and should have no problem reproducing the highly professional and together sound of the band and their songs.

Back to this single itself. Singer Sharron has a very distinctive voice that shouts out Skunk Anansie to you from the first word she sings at the start of the first track right through to the very last one on the second track.

Both songs are wonderfully produced and highly polished already although the band hasn't been together for all that long.

On drums we have a very talented young man by the name of Darren who sounds like he has been drumming for the last 20 years, which would be quite a feat as he isn't even that old yet! He really is that impressive.

On guitars we have Alex a seasoned player whose determination to succeed comes through in his delivery on both tracks.

Last we have Nell on bass who keeps the under current running throughout the songs.

Together the band make a very promising act and both these songs could have been played on national radio without anyone asking why and how. Their music is definitely alternative rock and would fit into most play lists quite well on both radio and in the clubs.

It would be interesting to see how far they could go if they toured with the right band. We'll have to wait and see what happens but this is one band I will be making a concerted effort to see more of in future.

The artwork on the front is actually a piece from the artist Michael Prince who guitarist Alex is a big fan of.

There are not many bands that are just starting out can boast the backing of such a prestigious artist behind them. Not surprising however is that it only took one listen to their single and he was won over by them and their music.
