Hailed as Britain’s most exciting rock n’ roll band in aeons, the Red Star Rebels are the epitome of the rock bands of the eighties like Motley Crue, LA Guns, Guns N Roses and the like with their 'Too Young To Care' attitude to the rock n' roll life-style. To be fair I grew up with the likes of the Crue and LA Guns and always read of their exploits in the likes of Kerrang and Sounds magazines. These guys are trying to be like their hero’s, but unlike their hero’s the band are forgetting the one major thing that made the bands mentioned above icons was firstly the music, then the life-style just came as a bonus afterwards to these bands. I have actually seen the band perform several times and think that they have a lot of potential as a band if only they concentrated on the music more. The band have some great songs in their repertoire and with the right motivation they could really make their mark on the music scene. So now to the EP, it opens up with ‘Too Young To Care’, a track that contains some fantastic riffs that are very ‘Talk Dirty To Me’, and the change in tempo for the chorus is a nice touch. But the track that really shows off the band potential is ‘The Fast Die Young And Pretty’, which is basically the bands ‘Home Sweet Home’ and ‘Every Rose Has It's Thorn’, and really is special song that shows a maturity in the bands song writing and their great use of melody. Another stand out track is ‘Hold’ which once again shows maturity and although it's a much slower track, it really has that something special. They close the EP with a little up tempo number ‘In It For The Kicks’, a song that sort of goes with the DVD that comes with the EP and shows the band having more than their share of fun in Portugal before, during, and after a gig. The sole intention of the DVD is beyond me except that is shows that if you get totally wasted, cowboy boots are not a good choice of shoe for staying on your feet ... and plastic chairs can be fun.
