Without a doubt in my mind I can proudly proclaim that TripleX Sun is by
far the strongest, and most enjoyable release by this band to date.
They've finally combined the explosive energy of their live gigs with the
punk/rock power of the songs on the 'Say it with Vodka' EP, and delivered
it straight in the form of this little treasure.
I liked 'Say it with Vodka' a lot. The songs were lively, punchy, and made
me want to listen to them again. I even found myself singing along to more
than one track while it was playing.
However, I LOVE 'TripleX Sun', I really do. Not only does it make me want
to listen to it again and again, but it had me up out my seat and bouncing
around the room like a right loon. You don't just sing along to a song
like this, you scream your lungs out till you're purple in the face. Whoah!,
I'm really looking forward to hearing them perform this live.
Take the CD out of the player and stick it into your CD-Rom and you'll be
presented with a whole new dimension to the band. Yes, they've gone that
extra step and included a PC friendly package to spoil you rotten with.
Delights include a full biography of the band. This will bring any of you
newbies up to speed with who they are and what they are all about.
The highlight however has to be the video that goes with TripleX Sun. Oh
boy you really got to check it out. Just how disturbing and at the same
time tremendously kinky can a video be? The band once proclaimed 'It's fun
to be sickly and perverted - in a nice way'. Well that just about sums up
the content of the video. I won't spoil it by telling you the plot (?) but
I will tell you it
includes footage and close-ups of the band naked except for a few bits of
cling film and some black bondage tape. Enough said! Got you curious now
eh? Well go buy the single and see for yourself.
There's all sorts of goodies on the CD-Rom to help you while away the
hours and it's nice to see a band make that extra effort, especially when
you consider it's not an album we're talking about here, it's a single.
But what a brilliant addition to anyone's collection it makes.
If you're a fan of such legends as The Wildhearts, The Almighty, and
perhaps even the mayhem known as Anti Product, then try these guys out for
size. Their energy levels seem to know no end and TripleX Sun sounds like
the track that might just break them out of the underground scene and into
the bigger picture. Produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers/Lost
Prophets) and mixed by Tony Platt (AC/DC), this is the single that's gonna
hunt you down and bite you on the ass!
