Until the last few days Remedy
had been a band whose sound I was somewhat unfamiliar with, but since
catching the band live as the support act for Logan, I can confidently say
they won't be strangers for long. This band can sure rock it up
live, mainly due to the vocal talent of Jenn Cherene, who has a stage
persona of a young Pat Benatar, only perhaps a bit more meatier vocally. The band may do covers
under their The Alcatraz House Band moniker, but under Remedy this band sure have a
bright future ahead of them if the Gods of Rock are listening. This
EP contains six great songs that will surely see the band on their way to
being signed and releasing a full blown album in the not too distant
future. Things get underway with
‘Last Demand’ and straight away the class of Cherene’s vocals are
there for all to hear as she powers her way though the track. But it's the next track
which really makes you wonder why they haven’t been snapped up by a
label before now. ‘Desire’ is such a classy modern Hard Rock
track that sounds great on the EP, but I tell you, live it will simply
blow you away! The band do have a mellower
side and this in found on the EP in the form of ‘Learn To Speak’, a
song that really brings out the soulful side of Cherene’s vocals and
also brings out some stirring guitar licks by guitarist Graham Haswell. The same more mellower side
is continued with ‘Midnight Till Morning, but it's the bands heavier
side that is where the band really pull no punches with the likes of
‘Priests And Preachers’ and the final track ‘Sacred Deep Inside’. As I said before this band
are a real treat live and this is reflected in the studio as well, and
with a few dates lined up the length and breadth of the country in June
and July, this is one band that I'd recommend checking out. |
