Artist: Serpico
   Title: Serpico
   Label: Independent Release

Formed in 2002 the brainchild of then guitarist Dan and his friend Mike.  The two always dreamed of one day forming a band and together with Steve (guitar), Iain (bass) and Jonny (Drums), the five became one entity Serpico, only later Dan left the band to concentrate on University and then five became four.

The bands over all sound has been described as a Punk Metal hybrid, but it's hard to categorise the band as they fit into both those genres and at the same time don’t.  It would be all too easy to compare the bands sound to Green Day, but that would be far too easy a road to go down.

The EP starts off with ‘400 Blows To The Head’ and straight away your hooked especially with the haunting vocals of Mikey Serpico and the American punk sounding guitars of Steve Patterson.

Things continue along a similar vibe with the excellent ‘Alkaline Nights’, this time with a more hard-edged guitar sound while still retaining that American Punk vibe.

‘Glasseye’ is a mellower affair, this time the band bring a little orchestral strings into the mix to add a little atmospheric touch to the track.

The final track on this very impressive EP is ‘Kaltura’, a real stormer of a closing track, full of vigour and attitude this goes down as my track of the EP as it's just superb.

If this band doesn’t get a substantial record label interest in the next 12 months then there is no justice in the world.  Definitely one to watch out for in 2007!
