As individuals the names of Steve Overland, Steve Morris, Chris Childs, Harry James and Steve Millington are held with high regard throughout the Melodic and AOR world, but together they are a Melodic force to be reckoned with as Shadowman. The bands first two albums 'Land Of The Living' and 'Different Angles' were regarded by many in the genre as two massive Melodic Rock albums, each one showing the band have something to say to those who think the genre is dead and buried. The band have once again come up trumps with this their third album and I must say best album to date, ‘Ghost In The Mirror’. Once again the band have united to produce an album that will stand the test of time by giving a fresh sound to the genre without straying too far from the Melodic pathway. The Melodic Rock fans can be some of the most fickle, while at the same time the most appreciative of fans. They know what they like and they aren’t afraid to let their voices be heard when they aren’t satisfied with an album. But those fans should fear not because this release is sure to send those die hard fans into raptures, with Overland showing what a fine voice he has and with Morris’s unmistakable guitar sound simply adding to the splendour of the sound, together with the very capable rhythm section of James and Childs providing a solid foundation as ever. The album gets underway in spectacular style with ‘Road To Nowhere’ and instantly you're swept away with Overland's great vocal prowess along with Morris’s sweeping guitar work. As keyboards men Millington and Morris get ‘No Mans Land’ underway, there's a feeling that this album will take a firm hold on the listener, as each track outshines its predecessor. As this up tempo rocker powers though the speakers, it melts this old heart to hear so much class together on one album. The album continues to ignite this reviewer’s hope for the genre with the excellent ‘Bad For You’, with Morris’s guitars and Overland's vocals complementing each other so well on this one. The album goes from strength to strength with ‘Colour Of Your Love’, the next track which sends the hairs on the back of your neck standing to attention with Overland’s majestic vocals once again the highlight. The phrase "no fillers all killers" is used all too often with albums nowadays, but this is indeed the fact with 'Ghost In The Mirror’, with tracks like ‘Fire And Ice’ the storming ‘It’s Electric’, a couple of my favourites, but there’s enough pure class on this album to satisfy all fans of good honest rock.
