Shelter of Leech have been around for some three years now and have performed live over 50 times in that short period. They've also built up quite a following in their native Italy. Their sound has been described as painful and melodically powerful. This combination may not be to everyone’s taste, but the band have found a niche in the market for cross over between indie and metal. This the bands debut release is only six tracks long, but in those six tracks the band manage to put all their eggs into one basket and then subsequently scramble them into the sound that they wanted. Stand out tracks on the album are ‘Slide Away’, with vocalist Simo sounding uncannily like Michael Stipe of R.E.M. This mixed with the tuned out guitar sound makes the track stand out from the rest. Also ‘Madre TV’ the only song on the album sung in Italian and has the most intense of all the tracks on the album. The
overall album might not be everyone’s cup of tea but the
experimentalists among you will find this strangely enthralling. |
