Italian
band ‘Stick It Out’ (yep, keep saying it, still doesn’t sound
right does it?) play rock n' roll the Sunset Strip way and certainly
wear their influences on their sleeve. Guns N Roses, MSG, and a slew of
other 80’s bands are the main point of reference here and of course,
this is no bad thing. The album starts with the charming ‘Marry The
Swine’ and with songs such as ‘Dog’s Friday Nite’, ‘Soakin Wet
Skin’ and ‘Touch’ included on the album, the band seldom stray
from the theme. The
album includes two covers – ‘Jack The Bastard’ originally by
Faster Pussycat and ‘Neat Neat Neat’ originally by The Damned –
both of which do justice to the originals though not really putting any
original mark on them, however. It’s unlikely that this album will
sell by the millions but it’s a worthy addition to the record
collection of those rock n' roll fans who occasionally seek new music
outside of Motley Crue, GNR and Poison. It’s far from a bad recording
– the solos are great, the riffs make you want to bang your head and
the choruses were clearly written with stadium gigs in mind. Throw in a name change along with a bit more time spent honing their craft, it will be interesting to see where this band goes. The singer should probably make up his mind who he is trying to be though, at times Axl, at times Barden and at times Cornell, the vocals are somewhat of a mixed bag. All in all though, a good first effort. Review by: Adam G |
