Tangoroa are a band that takes their name from a Polynesian sea god and the sound they make is similar to what I'd imagine a Polynesian sea god might sound like.

The band want to break new ground with their extreme hardcore, black metal infusion and I’m all for bands trying new things, but this noise fest is almost intolerable to the human ear.

I can find good in all metal whether it be thrash, darkcore, hardcore, stoner, black or doom metal, but to take all these genres and mix them all together is some what of a mystery.  How do you write these tunes down?  Are they in fact written down or do they just manifest themselves before all, in a hope that someone will take them, throw it against the wall and see what sticks.

This EP does have some endearing qualities though, you can't fault the quality of musicianship in the band.  However, it’s the hardcore vocal style that I can't get away with.  What’s the matter with the young of today?  Aren’t there any decent vocalist out there any more?  Surely you can still be angry young men but have a vocalist who doesn’t do his vocal cords in every time he sings!

This is extreme hardcore at its most fierce and will appeal to fans of the like of Band Called Horse and their like.  Quite simply this is just not my thing.  To put it bluntly ...“it's metal Jim but not as we know it”
