This third album by this Ohio quintet aptly names 'Three' is a strange affair to say the least.

There are so many ups and downs throughout that you don't know where you are with it as it goes from the lively almost jump about music to the morose by the end.

The album starts off in fine form, 'The Epitaph' and 'No shame', straight out of the late 80's Quireboys/Dogs D'Amour scene with the rough and raw vocals and bar room rock that gets your feet tapping before dipping into some slower melancholy tracks.  'Camaro' and 'Mediocre', with it's whiskey-soaked gruffness and an almost ragtime piano theme to it.

Just when you think things are picking up again, the Johnny Cash influence becomes more noticeable within the final couple of songs.  The mood brought right down with 'Arson', an echoingly empty affair with a slightly disturbing tale behind it, then 'Postcards And Apologies', an obvious personal song from the band.

'Three' isn't a bad album from Two Cow Garage, you have the crashing guitars and drums as expected, but not as uplifting as it promises from the beginning, which is a pity because this could really be a very good album.
