In 2008/09 the world saw the biggest depression since the thirties and the Wall Street crash.  Many household names disappeared off our streets and many firms went in administration and bankruptcy.  Even the music business wasn’t out of the line of fire, but when SPV Records announced it was bankrupt it sent shock waves around the Heavy Metal and Rock worlds.  Regarded as one of the biggest labels dedicated to Rock and Metal, the shock waves were felt worldwide.

But this was a short lived shock as the label bounced back late into 2009 and announced it was back and once again leading the way in Rock and Metal.  To celebrate the fact the label released their '25 Years And Still Alive' album featuring some of the labels biggest names.  Not only showcasing the labels ability to sign the biggest names in rock but also it highlighted the labels diverse roster throughout those 25 years, with such legendary giants as Saxon, Accept, Gamma Ray, Magnum, Dio, UFO and Iced Earth just a small selection of the artists who’ve had the Steamhammer and SPV logo’s on their albums.

This is great album that features not only those artists mentioned above, but a whole lot more.  The album has those classic rock and metal tracks that have made the rest of the music world, wish it had this diversity of bands and genres that have stood the test of time.  No matter what has been the flavour of the month in the wider music arena, Metal and Rock fans have always been the most loyal of followers to the bands they love, and SPV have remained the label of choice for many of these great artists over the years.

Who can forget the first time you heard Accepts ‘Fast As A Shark’ or Saxon’s “Princess Of The Night’, yes it was SPV that took these bands under their wing and made them household names in Rock.

A phrase that's often coined about an album it that it features "something for everyone", but this compilation really does just that.  Where else could you hear the likes of Doro with the likes of Glenn Hughes, or Nashville Pussy with Evergrey?  Certainly not anywhere else than on this celebration of 25 years at the top of the Metal and Rock.  A great addition to all Rock and Metal fans collections, and a great collection of songs for an album too!
