It’s not very often we have
demo’s reviewed on the site but when we heard the music of Wintryfrost
we wanted to hear more, so we got the main man himself Giorgio Orani to
send us a copy of his five track demo 'Wintryfrost'. This demo is
just a joy to listen to, right from the haunting intro down to the final
track, this guy has more talent in his little finger than I have in my
whole body. As this instrumental five track masterpiece shows, these
songs are just waiting for the right vocalist to take this music to the
next level.
The superb ‘My Magdalene’ is crying out for a female vocal to complete the mix of traditional rock instruments with the more orchestral piano and stings, as is the haunting vibe of ‘Martyrs’. Again rich orchestrations blended with guitar and bass, to describe this simply as an instrumental just doesn't do it justice, it's a mesmerizing heartbeat of a song. ‘Safe In The End’ is a dramatically charged piece as orchestral strings flirt with guitar licks in a cacophony of film score soundings. This song is very reminiscent of some of the material Within Temptation have put out in recent years. Leaving the best till last the final track on this fantastic demo is ‘Save These Words’, a torrent of cello and piano opens up this one before the more familiar guitar and bass take over to give it a heavier edge. This has a Paradise Lost feel to it and rounds off one of the best pieces of music I’ve heard in quite a while. If you want to hear more of
Wintryfrost and Giorgio Orani then check out the man and his music at www.myspace.com/yantar,
believe me you're in for a real treat. |
