'Xerosun' are a four piece metal band hailing from Dublin and mix a variety of tastes. This is their debut album.

The eclectic mix of tastes and genres is evident within all their tracks.  Mixing the heavy and the melodic allows for a Five Finger Death Punch inspired vocalist to mesh his voice with the softer melodic of Sentenced and similar bands.  Each song is punchy and emotional, taking a range of vocal abilities and making the best of them.  Some of the vocals do sound forced, as if at the end of their range, but this is mainly seem in the more melodic songs, such as 'In My Mind'.  However, this doesn't stop the song being enjoyable, just a little hard to listen to.

The main problem throughout is the sameness, and the conformity within the mix.  It seems that each songs sounds the same as the others, and can be difficult to listen to.  Only odd elements (guitar solos, change in vocals) give any real feeling of difference and it is hard to get into the album because of this.  However, for those who like heavy melodic metal would be quite happy.

The mix of differing styles also manages to alienate the listener slightly, as they are never completely clear on what they are going to get, particularly with the sameness of sound.  'Broken' initially sounds  an interesting track but again any potential is wiped by the familiarity and sameness.  An attempt at heavier songs is made through the album, especially 'All For Nothing', but yet again, the familiarity ruins the track slightly.  I would say this album is more for those who are already fans, rather than those who are new to the band.
