Xiren (pronounced seer-rin) are not my usual band of preference but when you get album after album of metal and hard rock there are times when you need to refresh your mind set before what I call "Metal Fatigue" takes over and your reviews start to become stale and static.  So stepping away from that scene does you good from time to time and this also gives you a chance to check out bands you wouldn’t normally do.

Xiren hail from Detroit and are taking on the likes of Kasabian, Kings Of Leon and the Killers with the new album 'TRIP-R'.  The album is modern rock through and through and hails the band as a new one to watch.

The band mix traditional rock with modern elements of dance and electro in a heady summer feel good album. imagine this album booming out of car stereo’s when the sun is high in the sky and the top is down or the windows are open when your heading out on that rare of things a sunny day.

From the opener right to the closer this is an album, which you can put on and switch off from the day to day grind. The band don’t claim to be anything they are not they play easy listening rock n' roll with a modern vibe.

Highlight from the album have to be the likes of the title track and opener ‘Trip- R’, the seventies vibe of ‘Burn Your Love Down’ with it's groove filled bass lines and the Beatlesque ‘Jesus Was An Alien’.  A song that could have been penned by Lennon himself and wouldn’t have been a miss on 'Sergeant Pepper', oh and not forgetting the US Top 40 single ‘Ship Of Fools’.

Like I said before not my usual bag but not a bad album at all and definitely a band that could done the likes of Glastonbury or The V Festival and draw a crowd.  So keep a look out for this band there going places for sure.
