Formed
in 1991 Fair Warning have grown to be Germany’s premier Melodic Hard
Rock band and since their fantastic album 'Aura' which was released last
year, they have taken the world by storm with inclusions in many of the
various European festivals last year before heading off to the land of
the rising sun Japan, to play at Loudpark Festival in Tokyo, which led
to a sell out headline tour of Japan in January of this year, where the
band have enjoyed superstar status since their debut release back in
1992. This
triple CD, double DVD and limited edition box set captures the band live
performance at Loudpark and their headline shows in Tokyo in January and
at over 3 hours of live music and quarter of an hour of private footage,
this is a must not only for fans of the band, but also fans of great
Melodic Hard Rock. Anyone who hasn’t experienced Tommy Heart,
Helge Engelke, Ule W Ritgen and C.C Behrens yet is missing something
rather special in the world of Melodic Hard Rock. From
the onset in 1992 with their self-titled debut album the band have been
on top of their game and even with a five year hiatus, the band returned
in 2006 with the stunning 'Brothers Keeper' album. The band soon
swept all away with their return, which was followed last year by the
all conquering 'Auras' opus. An album steeped in great old school
melodic rock that has become the trademark sound of the band. This
DVD and CD package has to go down as the box-set of the year for me.
Not only are the shows stunning but the overall package is just
fantastic. The first DVD is the Loudpark show which comes in
around an hour, with the second DVD being the recording of the January
show in Tokyo, coming in at a stunning two hours. Where else can
you get nearly three hours of pure live Melodic Rock joy without having
to step outside your own front door? What
makes the two shows so good is that the set lists for both shows are
different, making a total of 34 great songs that will please any fan of
the genre. The cinematography is excellent and the sound is just
top notch on both shows, which only goes to further add to the package.
I would have liked to have seen a larger bonus section but that’s the
only negative to what is a great package and one well worth breaking the
piggy bank for. |
