What I want in a DVD these days is extras and the new Gamma Ray double DVD release is just jammed packed full of extras that the whole thing runs at a massive 276 minutes! That’s over 3 hours of pure molten metal from Kai Hansen and the rest of the band. The opening disc features 18 power packed metal anthems that were shot during the bands North American tour. More precisely at the Montreal show where the band did kick some serious ass, as this disc shows. With such metal anthems as ‘Gardens Of The Sinner' , 'Fight' and ‘Heavy Metal Universe’ being just three of my own personal favourites from this truly awesome show which itself was two hours long. The second disc features all the extra’s that I so dearly like, with seven of the bands videos from the early incarnation of the band with Ralf Scheeps on vocals, including ‘Space Eater’, ‘One With The World’ and ‘Gamma Ray’ and Kai's debut as full time frontman and guitarist with ‘Rebellion In Dreamland’. This DVD disc is not simply a disc but more a collection, as I said before it truly is jammed packed with goodies including songs from the bands 2003 and 2006 show at Wacken, various backstage footage, a fabulous road movie taken during the bands Majestic US tour, a 47 minute history(!) of the band including rare and unseen footage, all going to make this one of the most comprehensive DVD packages around today and well worth every penny. This is a must buy for all fans of the band and will be played over and over again. |
