TALON
Thankfully the band that did take to the stage first that day were THE
band I'd been really looking forward to seeing live. Their debut album had
made such a huge impression on me, all for the right reasons, that I was
literally counting the minutes until they were due to hit the stage.
Coming on a little after 12.30 they started off with the rousing 'Fire In
Your Soul', my favourite track off the album!!! This was such a wise move
by the band because it instantly got the rock fans warmed up and ready for
action. Which when you think about it isn't easy that early in the day
considering most of us had only had a handful of hours sleep following the
late night session the previous evening.
Mind you it must have been a lot harder for the band who only hours
earlier had been on this very stage backing Stan Bush. How did they manage
such a lively perform today? Their lead singer Michael O'Mara oozed
confidence and energy from every pore. By the time they launched into
their third song he had a fair crowd of eager punters pressing against the
barrier and singing along to the songs.
They were loud, they were lively, and they gave a set that was worth its
weight in gold. Those forty minutes flew over and before we knew it they
were off the stage and we were all left standing there with the adrenalin
still rushing around our veins. Today's performance allowed the band to
show the punters just what they could do. Hopefully we'll get to see these
guys in action they will be much higher up the bill and a lot more people
will know the power and glory that is Talon.
This was the band I’d been so looking forward to seeing perform this
weekend and they left me more than satisfied with the performance they
gave. Hopefully the powers that be will invite them back to perform at
Gods festival because any band that can give such a cracking performance
deserve to be given a second inning to their UK fans.
