DANNY
VAUGHN
We’ve followed Danny Vaughn’s career from Tyketto right through to his
solo career today. He’s always come across as another friendly, down to
earth kinda guy who lives for his music and just enjoys getting out their
and doing his thing. Sadly, today he went steeply down in our estimations.
Being dragged onstage by his ‘girlfriend’ Slapper H from Totalrock, the
two of them just looked pathetic to say the least. I’m sorry but it was
bad enough having to listen to the utter twaddle Slapper H spewed out
moments before she dragged him on stage in collar and chain. Please
someone put this brain-dead bimbo down for she is nothing more than a
painful excuse for a rock DJ. Hello did we ask for a Kelly Bundy wannabie
to take to the stage? It was embarrassing enough to have her introduce you
Danny, but to then have yourself degraded by what was to follow … well,
you’ve plummeted off the scale of tacky as far as we’re concerned.
Having said all that Danny’s acoustic set was pretty good. He doesn’t look
out of place standing their on the stage on his lonesome and is as much at
ease with that situation as he is with a full band behind him. A real
trooper who has done his time and is now reaping the benefits of touring
virtually none stop these last few years.
It was interesting and somewhat bewildering to hear him explain the
inspiration for the third song ‘Ghandi Dancer’. Apparently he saw some
documentary about the old black railroad workers on TV. The Ghandi
Dancer’s were the guys who used to sing the songs to keep the momentum and
spirits up of the workers. Apparently one of these old guys had said that
Aerosmith had stole part of a song he used to sing. This prompted Danny to
say he thought Steve Tyler was nothing more than … ‘a big lipped stealing
Mother Fucker’. Not sure how much commitment he had in making that
statement but it sure had the punters rolling in their seats.
Although his acoustic set was a great performance with lots of highlights
and plenty of gush, I think most of the fans out there will agree it made
a nice change but what we really wanted to hear was a full blown, rock
your socks off electric show. What we really want Danny is for you and
Tyketto to get your act together and show us that you can still weave that
magic spell you did so long ago.
The main highlights of the performance were largely due to Patricia and
Bernardo from Nexx joining Danny onstage to cover the eternally popular
‘The Last Sunset’ and ‘Wings’. Shortly afterwards we had the guys from
Pride join him to give us that last final burst of energy with the
blistering ‘Strength in Numbers’ and ‘Forever Young’. Whoah! What a way to
end a set.
