With the great and mighty internet, new up and coming bands have found a niche market to promote themselves and let others know of their existence and without this almighty media tool, we might never have know about Lahannya, who's gig tonight only became known to us via their MySpace postings. So after checking out their MySpace page and liking what we heard, we decided to take up the bands invite and attend tonight’s show, and we weren’t disappointed with what we heard.
The set continued with ‘Narcotic’ and even with the flimsy PA the band still managed to produce a huge sound, and with the larger than life Lutz on bass and the passionate guitar sound of Chris against the pounding back beat of Belle on drums, the band really brought their A game to town tonight. The pace was picked up with ‘Charades’, which was introduced by Lahannya herself as a little Dance/Electro Number, which pretty much nailed the songs ambiance. The set continued with the excellent ‘Inside The Machine’, a track which features on their EP 'Welcome To The Underground’. By this time the band were well into their set as the main doors for the night club were opened and curiosity had gotten the better of quite a few members of the crowd as they joined the rest of us as Lahannya continued with ‘Bleed For Me’. A slightly more slower track that led Lahannya show her vocal prowess along with Lutz on bass guitar, while all the time Chris ripped through the track like a six string demon. ‘Beneath the City’ gave Lahannya a chance to bring a little angst into her vocals as this mood ridden song rang out around the tiny room, but the intimate nature of the show didn’t phase the band who seemed to relish the close proximity of the audience as a few words of encouragement were thrown at them from the front. The pace was once again picked up with ‘Silent Victim’ before the band rounded off a short but impressive set with ‘Doors’. Again the band managed to bring out a huge sound to this small space and really impressed me with their overall performance, and not just me, as the band were encouraged give us one more and suitably obliged with the poppy Goth techno ‘Beautiful Girl’. All of which rounded off a great night of Electro/Dance Metal. Definitely one to watch and watch out for! |
