AC/DC
returned to Ireland to perform at a sell-out show in Punchestown. This
is an outdoor venue, which holds about 80,000 people. Although it
rained for most of the evening, it certainly didn’t dampen the
atmosphere. Northern
Irelands ‘The Answer’ played support again and were given a great
reception. I didn’t see much of them at the last gig, so I really
enjoyed them this time. They are a great rock band. However, as The Answer finished, the atmosphere became electric. The outdoor stage was very impressive and was donned by 2 huge Angus schoolboy hats that lit up. AC/DC finally appeared at 9.15pm. There was a huge surge of people forward as everyone who had stayed down the back of the field now moved forward. I thought we were going to get squashed, but there was plenty of friendly faces around to make sure we remained standing!!. AC/DC had their steam train on stage and I have to say, it looked amazing. It really added to the outdoor roared onto the stage. Although I had seen the band in April, it was still a heart pounding moment when they took off with 'Rock And Roll Train'. From then on it was a roller-coaster ride of hit after hit. The band was in great spirits and it lifted the audience when Brian Johnson thanked everyone for waiting in the rain. The
set was pretty much the same as their last gig with -
'Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be', 'Back In Black', 'The Jack', 'Dirty
Deeds', and then came 'Thunder Struck'. It didn’t have the same
punch as when sang in an indoor venue, but we still managed to jump up
and down for the whole song!! This was followed by 'Black Ice', 'Hells
Bells', 'Shook Me All Nite Long', 'TNT', 'A Whole Lotta Rosie', 'Let
Their Be Rock' etc etc etc…. This time we were also treated to a fab fireworks display as well as Angus’s guitar solo. I feel very blessed to have seen this great band twice this year, and if I never see them again, at least I will have great memories!!. Review by: Janice |
