Artist: Amon Amarth

Venue:  The Academy, Dublin

Date: 24 October 2009

After a great set by Entombed, Amon Amarth took to the stage to a rapturous reception. With over 700 people here to see the lads perform, the pressure was on Amon Amarth to show Dublin how to do it Swedish style!! And they did not disappoint.

Amon Amarth truly shine when they play live. Musically, they are such a tight band and they don’t miss a beat, each member being a master of their craft. Their sound, although very heavy, is crisp and melodic. They are great to watch on the stage as they move together like a well oiled machine.

They played a varied set including the following: Twilight of the Thunder Gods, Valkyries Rides, Guardians, Fate of Norns, Live to Kill, Death in Fire, Victorious March.

This is a band not to be missed!! Both Entombed and Amon Amarth mentioned the sudden and shocking death of Mike from Evile. Evile were certainly missed from the lineup and I know that a lot of love went out from the Dublin crowd to Mike’s family and the rest of Evile.
