It's not that often that I have the good fortune to wave the flag for a British band but one band that sure needs a mention are Remedy.  Another thing in their favour are they are a local band as well, so even more kudos to them.

I first caught the band live just a few months ago when they were guests on the Logan tour in May this year.

With a sizable crowd in Trillians on a Monday night, the band would get good support as they opened up their account with ‘In Dreams’, a raucous start to the set with Jenn Cherene making an instant impact as she dominated the stage from the off, with Graham Haswell just storming on the guitar.

There was no time for idol chit chat as the band went straight into ‘Serendipity’, again Haswell excelled on the six string as he threw more shapes than Legoland, with the backing of the solid rhythm section of Lee Tuck and Mark Dodds on bass and drums respectively.

It was hard rocking all the way with ‘Chasing Traffic’, again Cherene’s sassy vocals and stage presence making this classy track one of the highlights of the set.  This was the final date of the bands UK tour with Cherene noting that it was good to be back home and playing Trills once more.  Then it was on with the show  as Dodds got the excellent ‘Am I Designed’ off to a thumping start, before following it up with the superb ‘Learn To Speak’, a mellower mid tempo rocker.

Then the band showed off their more melodic side with ‘The Remedy’ with Haswell giving us a little U2’s The Edge guitar feel to things.  All this was just a run up to the bands final two songs.  First up was a Led Zep cover ‘Whole Lotta Love’, which you don’t often hear covered but Remedy did it proud with an excellent version of the classic, which received the biggest cheer of the night.

The band round off this short but impressive set with ‘Desire’, one of my favourite live songs from the band and one which rounded off a great set.  I would have liked to have see a longer set with maybe ‘Priests & Preacher’ and ‘Last Demand’ featuring, but apart from that a great night was had by all.

If there is any justice in the world the band will be signed up before the end of the year and maybe a full album for the New Year, because they deserve a bigger slice of the rock n' roll cake than there getting.
