Al Barrow leaves Magnum and Dennis Ward fills vacant spot

Hello everyone

We want to share with all you guys the news that Al has decided to leave the band. He has been finding it increasingly difficult to spend so much time away from home now that he lives in America.

We’re all going to miss him very much, not just what he brought musically but his company and character. His tireless efforts in helping with putting our albums together, social media, website, and promotional literature have always been massively appreciated, especially when we didn’t pay him for them (JK)!!

We wholeheartedly wish him the best in all his future projects both musical and personal. We’ll be keeping in touch, and for the time being he will still be helping out on Facebook.

Stepping in to his shoes we are pleased to announce that Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Unisonic) will be joining us effective immediately. We’ve already been working hard with him on the new album - due for release early 2020, with artwork by Rodney Matthews. We’re all very excited by this next chapter in the Great Adventure that is Magnum.

Best of British Rock tour announced

YES, Asia, John Lodge of The Moody Blues and Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy with guest vocals by Arthur Brown--all together for the first time--are now rolling across North America on the must-see best-of-British-rock tour, "The Royal Affair Tour." Exciting highlights of the tour, including collaborations and reunions, are listed below.

Headlined by prog rock pioneers and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees YES, the trek launched June 12 in Bethlehem, PA and wraps Sunday, July 28 in Saratoga, CA. It's an unforgettable, historic and seamlessly flowing evening with 3 ½ hours of music by legendary artists who've sold over 150 million albums combined, adding up to excellent value for the ticket price. The concert experience includes high-definition video walls with archival clips that illustrate the historic importance of the music. Fans can also check out areas of each venue where the artwork of Roger Dean--whose masterful artwork has graced classic album covers and posters, most prominently by YES and Asia--is exhibited, with Roger on hand to sign merchandise.

See below for the full list of tour dates and go to www.yesworld.com/live  for ticketing information plus meet-and-greet/VIP packages.

View the tour trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkN5R1Gh7Po . Read the launch press release here.

On "The Royal Affair Tour," YES--Steve Howe (guitar--joined 1970), Alan White (drums since 1972), Geoff Downes (keyboards; first joined in 1980), Jon Davison (vocals since 2011) and Billy Sherwood (guitar/keyboards in the 1990s and the late Chris Squire's choice to take over bass/vocals in 2015), with Jay Schellen on additional drums--is playing an expansive set that underlines their legacy as the most enduring, ambitious and virtuosic progressive band in rock history. The set includes their signature songs "Roundabout," "I've Seen All Good People," "Siberian Khatru" and their immortal cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "America" plus various songs they haven't performed in years like "The Gates of Delirium" and "Rhythm of Love."

The tour's highlights include:

As part of the evening's British theme, YES is performing their interpretation of John Lennon's "Imagine." YES drummer Alan White played on the song's original recording and other Lennon solo material. The video montage for "Imagine" includes rare archival footage of John Lennon and George Harrison with Alan White.

Asia is playing their signature songs (as they pay tribute to their late founding member John Wetton). Original members Carl Palmer and Geoff Downes of YES are joined by the new line-up featuring guitarist/lead vocalist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (formerly of Guns N' Roses) and bassist Billy Sherwood of YES. A portion of their set features original guitarist Steve Howe of YES in a special performance. Featured are such ASIA classics as "Only Time Will Tell" and "Heat of the Moment," alongside ELP's "Lucky Man" and "Video Killed The Radio Star" by The Buggles (which Downes co-founded).

John Lodge's set encompasses his classic hits by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Moody Blues and pays tribute to the band's recently departed member Ray Thomas. Notably, Jon Davison of YES joins Lodge in his set for a riveting version of the Moodies classic, "Ride My See-Saw."

Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy reignites the music he made famous in Emerson, Lake and Palmer and remembers late members Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. Joining his band on vocals is shock-rock pioneer Arthur Brown. The set features a lethal, show-stopping version of the 1968 chart-topping smash, "Fire," by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, for which Palmer was the drummer in his pre-ELP days.

Sheryl Crow Can't Believe Master Destroyed In Fire

Sheryl Crow is still in utter disbelief after learning the master tapes of her hit albums were destroyed in a vault fire that was covered up for 11 years.

The singer/songwriter's original recordings of Tuesday Night Music Club and The Globe Sessions were among those that went up in flames in the 2008 blaze at Universal Studios in California.

The extent of the fire only came to light in a New York Times article published earlier this month and she is still trying to come to terms with the news.

"It absolutely grieves me," Crow tells the BBC. "It feels a little apocalyptic. I can't understand, first and foremost, how you could store anything in a vault that didn't have sprinklers. And secondly, I can't understand how you could make safeties (duplicates) and have them in the same vault. I mean, what's the point?

"And thirdly, I can't understand how it's been 11 years... I don't understand the cover-up."

According to the Times' sources, the fire destroyed thousands of master tapes featuring recordings by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, Janet Jackson and Nirvana.

Universal bosses have disputed the facts of the article insisting the extent of the losses has been "overstated", but Crow is far from convinced.

"There are many songs on my masters that haven't come out," she said. "My peace of mind in knowing I could come back someday and listen to them and mine those for basement tapes and outtakes, are gone.

"But what grieves me more than any of that is the fact that Buddy Holly and Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington - all this important music has been erased. And it's not just the music, it's the dialogue between the music, it's the takes that didn't make it, it's the versions we'll never hear."

Spread Eagle return with their first album in over 26 years

Spread Eagle is back and will release their first album in over 26 years, "Subway To The Stars" via Frontiers Music SRL.

"Our primary intention was to go back to the egg. Not to the debut album, but even before then. When we were unsigned, rehearsing in the East Village NYC and just putting our first songs together. We worked every day and night on our dream. We were a gang and no one could tell us we couldn’t accomplish something. That’s when we were at our rawest and nastiest and the intensity was completely off the meter. Of course, you can never truly go back in time, everyone learns and evolves; however, I wanted to remember that feeling of writing razor riffs in those basement spaces in 1989, then add it to current experiences," says founder and bassist Rob De Luca on what fans can expect. On first single "Sound of Speed", De Luca continues, "We wanted something that had a strong sense of propulsion. After that verse riff popped out, the chorus and other sections flowed effortlessly. From very early on in the writing process, I felt this should be the song to reintroduce Spread Eagle. I was happy that Frontiers had that exact same vision for it. As I said above, it invokes the spirit of our inception with some additional skills that we’ve learned."

Spread Eagle burst upon the hard rock scene of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s playing a brand of rock that hailed straight from the mean streets of New York City. When Paul DiBartolo (guitar), Rob De Luca (bass), and Tommi Gallo (drums) moved to New York City and met up with Ray West (vocals), East Coast Streetmetal was born. The group was quickly snatched up and signed to MCA/Universal Records, then sent straight into the legendary Record Plant studios to record their debut album. The self-titled debut was produced by Charlie Gambetta and featured a gritty and dangerous sound, wailing vocals and razor sharp guitar, demonstrated through songs such as "Switchblade Serenade", "Scratch Like A Cat", and "Broken City".

Four years later, after the release and touring of their second album, "Open To The Public" (also produced by Gambetta), the band took an extended break and went about their own personal projects. Spread Eagle reformed in 2006 under the direction of Ray West and Rob DeLuca (who has also worked with UFO and Sebastian Bach) along with two new members, Ziv Shalev (guitar) and Rik De Luca (drums). The band has been together ever since and decided to start production on a new album, scheduled for release in August 2019 on Frontiers.

Songs for “Subway To The Stars” were put together in the Music Building in NYC, which is the exact same place where the songs for their debut album were rehearsed and written. Recording took place at Studio E in Brooklyn, NY with Grammy Award winning engineer Tom Camuso. The new album does not disappoint and picks off up where the band left off. Spread Eagle is a welcome addition to the Frontiers' family, where they will become yet another vital band from the '80s/'90s rock scene to release amazing new music in the 21st century!

Molly Hatchet thank fans for support over death of Phil McCormack

On behalf of Molly Hatchet, we want to thank you all for your condolences on the passing of Phil McCormack. We truly appreciate your support over the past several weeks, and we recognize that this is a difficult time for all of us. We've spent many years performing with Phil across the country - and across the world - and we've been through a lot together. Phil is, and will always be, an undeniably important figure in the history of the band.

We have assessed many options concerning the future of Molly Hatchet. At this juncture, in speaking with family, friends, our veteran fans, our record label, our agency, and many behind the scenes personnel, we will go forward into the next chapter of the band’s legacy. All tour dates will be fulfilled, and more shows added.

The lead singer / front-man position is both demanding and critical to the show performances and recording responsibilities. Jimmy Elkins will join us and carry the torch on stage for the initial, foreseeable future. Jimmy is from central Florida, has a long history singing with Southern rock bands that have performed with us, and we as a band have known him for years.

We are now writing songs that will appear on the long-awaited studio album next year on SPV/Steamhammer. This is the start of a new chapter for us. Again, we thank you all for the decades of strong support and your continued dedication to Molly Hatchet.

Billy Sherwood to release new album on Frontiers Music Srl

Frontiers Music is pleased to announce the new album from Billy Sherwood - 'Citizen: In The Next Life' out July 12th, 2019.

The first single “The Partisan” is available now. Listen Here: https://youtu.be/eqlbum-SAXk

Pre-order the album here: http://radi.al/Citizen-InTheNextLife

“Citizen: In The Next Life” is Billy Sherwood’s second release in the Citizen series, which follows the concept that he started with the “Citizen” album released in November 2015. The songs describe the individual experiences in a journey through time and space of a character, “The Citizen” through his own eyes: from an appearance in the Berlin bunker as Adolf Hitler in the final days of WWII to the Impressionist painter Monet, then as Stephen Hawking exploring the depths of the mind and the universe, Wyatt Earp, the legendary sheriff of Tombstone, Christopher Columbus, Romeo Montecchi and Mata Hari, among other real and fictitious characters.

On first single "The Partisan" and other songs on the album, Sherwood says, "the song is about Adolf Hitler and follows his rise to power and eventual fall. "Sophia" is about the first ever A.I. to be formally recognized and declared a citizen of a nation, Saudi Arabia. The song explores the notion that perhaps this isn't such a great idea and "just because we can does not mean that we should". "Monet" finds the citizen as the famous impressionist painter and expresses the beauty within the paintings themselves, "painting for all our eyes". "We Shall Ride Again" has the citizen as the famous lawman Wyatt Earp as he takes care of business, along with his brothers Virgil, Morgan and comrade Doc Holiday. "By Design" is a song where the soul of the main character is Romeo, expressing his love for his Juliet. "Mata Hari" is about the infamous spy who used her seductive ways to get vital information to the governments she worked for. The double agent would eventually find herself in front of a firing squad after being found out."

For the first album in the Citizen series, Billy amassed an impressive list of guests, including the last recorded performance of original YES bass player Chris Squire, this time he wanted and managed to work on the concept on his own. The result is another splendid ride in human history, with an exceptional storyteller like Billy who is bringing us on a fascinating musical ride through the centuries. The album also includes an impersonation of the character “The Citizen” as Chris Squire. "Amazing Grace" is a famous bass solo that Chris used to do on stage and so it seemed a fitting tribute to him.

"I'm looking forward to this record coming out and having people take these jumps through time. The citizen is your guide and there are many interesting places this lost soul appears. I think of it as a sort of movie for your ears. I recommend a good set of headphones and let the stories take you on a journey," continues Sherwood.

Billy Sherwood is a current member of YES, handpicked by original founding member Chris Squire, before his untimely death in June 2015, to fill in for him. Billy was also asked by legendary progressive icon John Wetton to replace him in ASIA. Billy started his career in the band Lodgic and then World Trade, with whom he released two albums. He joined YES for the first time as touring member on the “Talk” tour in 1994, before becoming a full time member from 1997 to 1999. He also recorded two albums with Chris Squire on the “Conspiracy” project and released six albums with CIRCA, the band he formed with another former YES member, Tony Kaye.

3. Monet
4. Skywriter
5. We Shall Ride Again
