MM - Please,
introduce the band members to us and where do you all call home?
Bam, Share Ross, and Brent Muscat. We call smoggy LA home.
MM - When was the band formed and how did you
all meet?
Bam and I started the band in '97 and we met Brent in '99 through a
mutual friend.
MM - What made you decide to call the band 'Bubble'?
We stole it from the character named Bubble on Absolutely Fabulous!
MM - What other bands have the members appeared in?
Bam - Wildhearts, The Dogs D'Amour. Share - Vixen, Contraband. Brent -
Faster Pussycat.
MM - How would you best describe your music and who would it most appeal
to?
Bubble makes noise to shag to, drink to or fight to. Take your pick.
MM - How has the music industry in general responded to the band?
We haven't really approached them yet. The important thing is that we're
going down well with fans.
MM - Your song 'Sparkle Star' appears on the soundtrack for the movie
'Dancing at the Blue Iguana'. How did you get involved in that?
We have film and tv representation and they pitched the song for us.
Much to our surprise, it made the cut. That's the same song that won top
honours in the Rock Category of the worldwide John Lennon Songwriting
Contest!
MM -You recently completed a full UK tour and also some dates in Japan.
How did they go and do you find a big difference in the two different
cultures?
Yes, they're very different. The Guinness flows in Britain and in Japan
it's more of a sake scene. No, seriously, we love both places.
MM - Do you have any plans to tour again in the near future?
Working on it!
MM - 'How 'Bout This?' is the first full length album to be
released by the band. What has the fans response been to this?
It's been amazingly excellent!
MM - The year 2000 also saw the release 'Miss Hellaneous' EP by the
band. What made you decide to launch both an album and an EP in the same
year?
We write a lot of songs and some of the ep was just meant to be demos
for our ears only but we liked it so much it just made sense to release
it.
MM - This April will herald the release of your second album 'Rockets
& Volcanoes'. Will this be made widely available?
Yes, we are working on some deals to make it easy to find the new album
in Japan and England. However, we're not too sure of the April deadline
release date now!?? Probably more like June?
MM - What can your fans expect this time around from the new album?
I'd say it's more rockin', a bit rawer and the post-touring version of
Bubble.
MM - Do you find the Japanese market more interested in this type of
rock as opposed to the USA and European market?
No, it seems about the same. It all depends on who you know.
MM - During your UK tour you covered Hanoi Rocks hit 'Taxi Driver' which
you also performed on a tribute album. Are Hanoi Rocks one of your
favourites or was it just another job?
We LOVE Hanoi Rocks. We dedicated Taxi Driver to Razzle every night.
MM - What bands do you like to listen to at the moment?
The Yo-Yo's, Ash, Hellacopters, Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin.
MM - A question for all those musicians out there, what instruments do
you use?
The basics, drums, bass, les Paul guitars, a keyboard for piano and
strings.
MM - The promotion, production, sound and image of the band are all very
much done by the band itself. Do you find at times it's hard being so
self sufficient?
Really fucking hard!!!! But the payoff is wonderful. For once, we have
complete creative control. The feeling of freedom is fantastic.
MM - If you had to choose one person, alive or dead, that had influenced
you the most musically over the years, who would it be?
John Lennon.
MM - Do you find it harder or easier starting up in a new band this time
around?
I think it's easier. We know so much what we want because our vision is
very clear.
MM - Do you think the rock scene is starting to rejuvenate itself and
take a more active role in the world of music than it did for much of
the 90's?
The rock scene is a great big smelly giant that's crawled out of the
cave it was in for the last ten years and is askin' for a bloody Mary.
MM - Do you get the chance to go clubbing much and is there any clubs in
particular that you prefer?
Yeah. Bam clubbed a goat last night and made some soup. No, but really,
we go to Goldfinger's where Bubble started, the Pretty Ugly Club, the
Garage, Coconut Teaser. Wherever there's a good band, we'll go.
MM - How do the band like to relax when not on the road or recording?
Bam is a great chef and I love to paint. My art site is: www.geocities.com/anglo_americanartist
MM - How would you best describe the band and its mood right now?
We're excited to make another record. The creative juices are flowing
and passions are high. The music is slammin' and it's makin' us eager to
finish the album and go back out there and tour!!!
MM - Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to your fans out
there?
Thanks for letting us know you're there and that you're diggin' our
Bubble noises. We simple couldn't have gotten this far without
your support!
ROCK N' ROLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now go turn up your
stereos and annoy your neighbours.
