MM - Introduce the
band to us and where do you call home?
Chris Moody:Guitar,Vocals
Eric Bess:Bass
Shawn Miller:Drums
Harrisburg
Pa. USA is where we call home.
MM - Have you performed in any other bands prior to the Dead 50's?
Eric played in a band called "last call", and Shawn and I have played in
Metallica and Dokken, alright just kidding, we all had our small bands
growing up.
MM - How would you describe your music and what makes
it stand out from the rest?
Our music is definitely Rock and Roll, and it has a genuine honesty about
it. It's not popcorn Rock, when you hear it, you feel it ya know.
MM - Who do you see you music most appealing
to?
Juvenile Delinquents and possibly drunken midgets.
Actually I see it being appealing to a lot of different kinds of people. I
write songs about the things that happen in my life, as well as other's.
When we play a show it's like the first one all over again. There is never
a lack of energy on stage.
I would have to say that the "Most appealing thing about our music" is the
fact that Shawn has a nice ass. MM - The band are currently signed to Smorgasbord
Records, how did you hook up with them and how do you find working with
them?
Smorgasboard records is a great label to work with, very artist friendly.
We were introduced through mutual friends and it all went from there. They
care a lot about the bands they sign.
MM - Your album 'Standing on the edge of
Forever' is available to rock lovers at large. Tell us a little bit about
the album and also where can it be obtained?
The easiest way would be to hop on the internet and order it from our
website:
www.Dead50s.com . I know it is in Music stores but of the top of my head I couldn't really
give you a complete list. MM -
Who designs the logo's for the CD covers and other merchandise you have
available?
A lot of the logos and such were designed by me, and some of the others
were done by a close friend, Micheal Moppin, from "ArtBoyProducts."
MM - At what age did you become interested in being a
performer?
I got hit by a car when I was 13 years old, I was in bed for about a
month, so in an attempt to cheer me up, friends of mine (who had a band)
came over and set up their equipment in my room and practiced.
It was loud and out of tune but awesome that they did it, ha ha.
I got a guitar and started playing, ever since then I couldn't put it
down. I started my first band when I could walk again, about a year later.
MM - Who did you used to imitate in front of
the mirror when you were younger?
Michael Jackson, and a few times I caught myself doing Elvis
Presley (hasn't everyone?) MM - What is your most treasured possession?
Probably this can of Shaeffer Light ha ha, no really, if I was shipwrecked
on an island and could only have one thing, it would be a toss up between
my guitar and a Shaeffer Light.
MM - What was the very first rock concert you ever went
to see?
The Misfits in Philly on Halloween night.
MM - Who is your ultimate rock icon of all time?
My dad, he showed me how to play my first chord (even though he really
sucks at guitar lol)
MM - What do you love/hate the most about the music
business?
Making new friends is always a plus, a negative would be when they turn
around a kick you in the nuts. It's hard to tell good apples from the bad.
So far we have been fortunate enough to work with some of the nicest and
most honest people out there. MM - Do you have any plans to tour outside
the US in the near future?
Hopefully enough people pick up our new album that we can get out of the
US for a tour. (buy our album, buy our album, buy our album) I'm sure
someday we will be able to though.
MM - Would you consider yourself an optimist or a
pessimist? Is your glass half full or half empty?
I usually drink out of a can, and always have another full one beside me,
so I don't really understand the question. MM - If you could choose one song as the
soundtrack to your life what would it be?
The theme song from the tv show "Dukes of Hazzard"
MM - What's been the most embarrassing thing that's
ever happened to you while performing?
Before a show i sat in a huge puddle of something that was leaking out of
our van, it looked like I sh#t in my pants.
We were far from home and I didn't have anything to change into. Eric, our
bass player, was nice enough to point out my soiled pants to all the
people at the show. Thanks bro. ha ha.
But really, most of the embarrassing things that happen to us on stage are
self inflicted. We don't really care about looking like rock stars, we
take pride in our imperfections. MM - Tell us one thing about yourself that very few people know about you.
I usually wear women's knee high socks when I play a show.
MM - When you aren't performing or recording new material, how do you
like to chill out?
Playstation, going to see other bands, BMX, watching re-runs of "What's
Happening"
MM - Do you have a favourite bar, if so where is it and
what's your favourite drink when you're there.
I really like the Pontiac grill in Philly Pa. Favourite drink, ahhhhhhhhh
wellllll Beer.
MM - Name an album you've heard recently and
liked.
The last album I heard and liked was "Alien Ant Farm" they really kick
ass!! The one before that was probably NOFX , "Pump up the Vallium"
MM - What's your personal favourite out of
all the Dead 50's songs and why?
It's hard for me to pick a favourite, it's like picking your favourite
child.
I'll tell you this though, I enjoy playing "All-E-All" live. Things
usually really crazy during that song. MM - When you die what would you like
them to put on your tombstone?
Pepperoni, and remember to turn off the oven! (I almost burnt my parents
house down working with a tombstone!!)
MM - Lastly, is there anything you would like
to share with all your fans out there?
Thanks for supporting us , Thanks to Pimpit.com, and spyeyes.com for
Helping us out!! Buy the new album dammit!!!!
Stay Dead.
