| MM - Please
introduce the band to our readers. Detox Darlings are: JetSet Jenna on lead vocals and feather boas Charlez Darling is the lead guitar superstar Wylde Bill is behind the self destruction drums and I, Spyder play bass and scream my drunken guts out. MM - When was the band first formed and how did you first meet? The band started in '96 after I got kicked out of my last band, who has since remained nameless and fameless. Anyway, vengeance being the great motivator, I quickly assembled a cast of musical nasties from people I'd met on the scene, through classifieds and on line at the liquor store. The rest as they say, is heresy! MM - Where in the world do the band call home? Currently, we're New York City based, but with the rents going up like Bill Clinton on Viagra, we may have to relocate to Hollywood, or maybe Helsinki. I hear Harrisburgh PA is lovely this time of year. MM
- Describe your music and who would it most appeal to?DETOX DARLINGS play locomotive loud, speedball fast glam punk rock'n roll. Nothing but love songs to our various addictions: from crystal meth to macramé, it's in there baby. If you're a hyperactive nympho with a drinking problem, we're the band for you! MM - Where did the name Detox Darlings come from? Some friends and I used to have an expression No Sleep Til Detox which is where the first part comes from, the second is from the Adam & The Ants song Press Darlings. How's that for obscure? MM - Are you signed/unsigned at this present moment in time? If we were any more unsigned we wouldn't exist. We almost had a deal with an indie label here in the city, but they backed out at the last minute. Bastards! So David Geffen, if you're reading this and still want to go out for drinks and maybe a weekend on Fire Island, just give a call! MM - Which band/artist have influenced you the most? I'd have to say Motorhead, AC/DC, New York Dolls, Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Lou Reed and of course Olivia Newton John. MM - Do you currently have any CD's available? Why sure and thanks for asking. We've got a 5 song CD available (send $5 to Detox Darlings, 225 West 25 St. #1D, New York City, New York 10001 USA) that includes our cover of Faster Pussycat's Smash Alley, Ticket To Tokyo - which is due out next year on Vol. 11 of Fistful of Rock'n Roll and Pretty Little Junkie which was on the piping hot Pink & Black goth/glam compilation. MM - Who writes and composes the songs that you perform? Some of the tunes I wrote solo back in Hollywood at the split end of the big hair 80s, others Jenna & I co-wrote based on our latest debaucheries, and others Jenna came up with all by her beautiful self. MM - What's the most outrageous thing you've done in the name of Rock n' Roll? Well, once I wore my white tux jacket after Labor Day. Please don't tell the Fashion Police. I'm in enough trouble with them already! MM - What's the worst/best thing about being in a rock band? The best is the interviews, free drinks and the time spent actually making music, either on stage or just in rehearsal. The worst is the paper cuts from opening 100 pound bags of fan mail. But we do it anyway, for the kids.
