MM -
Introduce the band members to us.
Rip Beier - Vocals
Mike Jelinek - Guitars
Buddy Toth - Bass Guitar & Keyboards
Jason Marks - Drums
MM - Where does the band call home?
Tampa, Florida.
MM - When was the band formed and how did you
all meet?
The band was formed in 1999. Buddy and I (Mike) go back years, we met Rip
through the internet and Jason answered an ad in a music store.
We got together and jammed one night and we wrote Buried Alive the first
rehearsal and we said 'Hey we've got something here!'.
MM - How would you best describe your music
and who do you think it would appeal to?
I would say that we are very loud and hard, but still very melodic. I
think we appeal to all the people that have said Rock N' Roll is dead, or
where did my metal go?
I would also tell them it has been resting in Tampa, Florida and now we're
ready to wake up the world.
MM - Your debut album is due out shortly, do you have an exact date for it's
release and where can it be obtained?
March 27th if everything goes to plan but there is always delays for some
reason. You can purchase it over our website or any major web store.
I recommend www.cdbaby.com , by the way, you can reach any band member at
www.dreamzfate.com.
MM - Tell us a little bit about the
songs off the new album and the stories behind them.
Well the CD has some deep thought to it, but is sends a positive message
you know, most heavy metal albums make you go out and buy a gun (just
kidding). No, but seriously, if you just listen to the tunes it will make
you want to come and see us live.
The stories behind the music are just about every day occurrences that we
thought now that would make a cool song.
MM - Where does the name Dreamzfate come
from?
One of Rip's Heineken binges.
MM - How has the internet influenced the way
in which the band project themselves and their music?
Great question, we feel that the internet gives us much more freedom than
the band have ever had. The internet was probably the catalyst that got me
and Buddy motivated. Hell we wouldn't have found Rip without it.
MM - What was the first rock concert that you
ever attended?
Ted Nugent and Golden Earring.
MM - What bands/artists have influenced you
the most over the years?
Without a doubt Judas Priest, Queensryche is another brilliant band.
You know there are so many I could go on all day just let's say there are
too many great one's to list them all.
MM - What makes your band different from all the other bands around today?
We play what's in our heart and we can do it live without sampling
anything.
Also for all your female readers, tell then we love women and we don't
write derogatory things about them like so many others do.
MM - With the release of the new album
almost upon us, can we expect a promotional tour to follow?
Well, we're taking on the U.S. as we speak, but as things progress I'm
sure we will be over your part of the world and may I say Kick Some Ass!
MM - Who designs the logo's/flyers and other
promotional material for the band?
Well everybody in the band has an input and helps out and there is some
very talented people in Florida that help as well.
MM - Do you consider yourselves a fan orientated and accessible band?
Oh yes, absolutely! The fans are why we're here.
MM - What types of music do you
listen to in your spare time?
Everything except rap and hip hop. God I even have trouble saying those
words.
MM - Is all your material original or do you
do cover versions as well?
Right now it's all ours, but we have kicked around maybe putting a cover
on a future CD.
MM - What is your most treasured possession?
I would probably say my health, what's yours?
MM - When you're not busy with the band stuff,
how do you like to chill out?
Well we live on the Gulf of Mexico so I would say sun and fun.
MM - How would you best describe the band and
it's mood right now?
Very positive.
I think we're seeing an end to the imitation of rock music and we're
getting back to the roots of heavy metal and that makes me happy.
MM - Lastly, what would you like to share with
all the readers out there?
Stay true to what you love, if it's in your heart go for it.
