Artist: Ear Candy
Date:  21 December 2000

MM - Introduce the band to us and how did you all meet?
Kevin Coble and I, Ray Bryant met thru an ad in a local publication. Kevin Responded to an ad I placed for people willing to play the music I had recorded. Kevin Responded and joined up. That was in April or so of 1999.

A few months went by and one night while filling in on bass at a bar with a friend, I was approached by bassist Mark Minyen. Mark said he was also a bassist and admired my playing. I told him I was not a bassist but was looking for one if he was interested. He came and auditioned with Kevin and I and a guitarist who shall remain nameless and decided to join up. That was May. Things did not work out with the Guitarist so I decided to try my hand at playing and singing.

By November we were gigging in local bars. In June of 2000 we were looking for a second guitarist and saw an ad for a lead guitarist in the same publication I hooked up with Kevin thru and called on Steven Bryan. In July of 2000 the current group was complete.

MM - Where in the world do the band call home?
We are from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ray and Steve are from Okc, Kevin is from Geary, Oklahoma, and Mark is from Yukon.

MM - Describe your music and who would it appeal to?
Steve- Well, I personally think that energetic rock n roll is what would really hit the nail on the head. It's got that attraction of a hard rocking band but at the same time shows an artistic emotional feel. Its a variety of different styles since the band comes from all different backgrounds of styles and influences.

Ray - I call it a hard rock blues funk thang with driving beats, addictive grooves, and suggestive yet entertaining lyrics!

MM -
Your songs have won both the top slots on the MP3 southern rock charts, what has been the general reaction to your music from the music community?
Well, there have been a variety of accolades and other achievements that have come from mp3 success. Our most important was our being invited to come participate in the angel citi music festival in Hollywood in June of 2000.  We have become regulars on our local radio station Rock 100.5 FM Tuesday night Local Talent show which airs at 12:00 am on tuesdays.

MM - Where did the name 'Earcandy' come from?
Ray - I came up with it - If rock and roll is sweet music to your ears - then here's a little EARCANDY for ya!

MM -Are you signed/unsigned to a record label at present?
Kevin - We are an unsigned artist using our own equipment to produce our material right now. We would love to go to a studio but they are so expensive and there aren't many good ones locally, so we decided to invest in some recording gear.

MM - Do you currently have any CD's available and where can they be obtained?
Mark - We have two full cd's, Audiorgasm, our first, and Rock & Roll Revival our Second, plus a four song Demo and a cd of our biggest mp3 hits called RAW CANDY

MM - Do you have any plans for a tour in the near future?
Ray - We are currently working on a third album and will keep making albums hopefully until someone gets the hint that were good and signs us!

MM - Which band/artist has inspired you the most and why?
Steve - Iron Maiden and Kiss; Kevin - Tommy Lee of Motley Crue; Ray - Sammy Hagar and Van Halen, the Black Crowes, Mark - Creed

MM - How would you like to see rock music progress in the new millennium?
Ray - I think that music is evolving beyond genres and music will start to cross borders and many taboo's will be broken. I think that good music is what is important, no matter who's playing it. Your gonna hear Madonna next to Rob Zombie. Your gonna hear Chemical Brothers next to Barry Manalow. RATM next to Britney Spears.

MM - What was the first concert you went to?
Steve - Iron Maiden, Kevin - Kiss, Mark - Aerosmith, Ray - Run DMC

MM - Out of all the songs you have recorded in the past which one is your personal favourite and why?
Steve - Demon Me until our new album comes out!, Ray - Same here, its top secret off our new album! Kevin & Mark - same here!

MM -Is all your music original material or do you do cover versions as well?
Ray - I have recorded a version of Sexy thing by Hot Chocolate but don't have permissions yet but otherwise its all original

MM - What's the worst/best thing about being in a rock band?
Ray - Nothing bad - The Pay Sucks! The best thing is getting to use your god given talents and have it appreciated.

Steve - having to keep my day job!

MM - Lastly, what short phrase would you use to describe the band right now?
Ready for the next level.
