Artist:  Glyder

Date: 8 July 2010

Returning with their third and most diverse album to date, we catch up with Ireland's premier rock band Glyder to find out more from guitarist Pete Fisher.

MM - Firstly congrats on the new album ‘Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow’.
Pete -
Hey Linda, Pete here from Glyder, thanks for the interview.

MM - The band are associated with a sound similar to Thin Lizzy, but I think this album takes a small step away from that sound, what do the band think of the overall album sound?
Pete
- Yeah we are all huge Thin Lizzy fans and that influence has always seemed to come through in our music.  As we progress as a band though we discover our own sound more and more and on this album I think we are more comfortable with that sound than ever, and I think we are all happy with the album because of that. Plus we worked with great people in recording and mixing the album so that always adds a lot to the sound.

MM - The band are now signed to SPV records, why the change in labels and what did SPV bring to the table that others didn’t?
Pete
- With the last two albums we had various distribution deals so we weren’t actually signed to anyone, we owned all the rights to those albums ourselves, with this album we moved to SPV with much more of a traditional record deal, which is great for us at this point in time and SPV offers so much more than what we had in the past.  They are a well established label with some great names signed to them, and they have their own distribution network and contacts, and it's nice to say your signed with SPV.  So far its been great.

MM - The band have been the support act for a lot of top notch rock bands, have you been given any advice by the rock greats that you adhere to, if so what?
Pete
- Yeah we have opened for and toured with some really brilliant bands and musicians and you take a little from all of them, everyone has their own experiences. Touring with Thunder, Fish and Y&T was great because they’re all really experienced bands and know what its about and they gave us some great advice on things, and you learn a lot by just watching a band, seeing how they work together. Can’t think of one piece of advice we adhere to though.

MM - How long did the album take to put together?
Pete
- Writing was about 4 months, we recorded it in a little over a month and it took about another month and a half to get the mixing  and mastering sorted, so it took just over 6 and a half months roughly.

MM - The album includes the song ‘Knockout’, why pick the “Rumble In The Jungle” as the theme for the song?
Pete
- Bat wrote that song, I think he was watching a t.v. program on the “rumble in the jungle” and got the idea, it fits in well with the music because the song has a really punchy riff.

MM - The band have a notary guest on the album in the form of Y&T’s Dave Meniketti, how did he become involved in the album?
Pete
- As I mentioned above we toured with Y&T before we recorded this album and got to know all the guys pretty well.  We had a really good time touring with them. Then when we came home we were putting together the material for the new album and Bat just e-mailed Dave and asked if he’d be interested in doing a solo on the album and lucky for us he was.

MM - Every fan wants to know when we will see the band on the road again, have you any tour plans in the pipeline?
Pete
- We have no tours booked as yet, its the festival season at the moment, so hopefully when that’s over we’ll get a couple of tours.

MM - Are their any final words you’d like to add to wrap things up?
Pete
- Thanks to all who’ve bought or listened to the album, hope to see ye at a Glyder gig soon

MM - We'd like to thank Pete for taking the time out to chat with us today and look forward to seeing the guys back out on the road again soon.  If you haven't heard the bands new album yet be sure to check it out, they really have stepped up to the mark with this release.
