Artist: Iron Fire

Date: 21 December 2011

MM - You’ve been going for over a decade, has it become easier to make music in that time?
Martin
- Well l guess nothing comes easy when you wanna try to think new ideas and new concepts, of course its a bit easier, when you have some guidelines to make music, after pass the years we have tried to point out what works and what doesn't, but in the meantime, new ideas and ways to kick the new album will set some ways that aren't that easy after all, even we did a decade of music.  If the music Is easy to make, that wont give the outcome that we need.

MM - What were your influences?
Martin
- The band is a 4-5 member band and all members have different backgrounds in music taste.  But after all when we talk what music we all likes, it's all gonna end up almost same genres and same bands. We don't hear a band and copy their style, we just use out jelly brains to figure out what could be funny and interesting to do on the next album.

MM - How did you all first meet and become a band?
Martin
- Fritz Wagner ( drums) was the last to join the Iron Fire in 2007 just after the Blade of Triumph was done,  Steene is the original member and the bandmaster.  Iron Fire was in 2000 the bringer of the album 'Thunderstorm'.  There has been a lot of member changes in the past years, but since 2007 the band had stayed the same.  It's possible to check out past members at the internet :-)

MM - Do any of you play instruments that aren’t used in the band?
Martin
- Well I have a harmonica at home to blow and play a cowboy tune, but really I ain't that good (Fritz W), Maybe our key guy Rune Stiassny can do some instrumental tricks that I ain't aware of yet.  If you join our shows,  you can feel free to get backstage and say " Hi can anyone play Fur Elise on your knees??

MM - How long has it taken to get to this level of proficiency?
Martin
- Oldest member are 36 .. some are 31... maybe It took 30 years to get this level of proficiency :D.. maybe NOT.

MM - Have you achieved everything you wanted in 2011? If not, what didn’t you do?
Martin
- We did not tour in whole 2011, actually not since 2007 when we joined UDU and Primal Fear.  We did make a fantastic album 'Voyage of the Damned' in 2011 (Release date 2012 ).  So we really hope there will possibilities to join a tour or some more live shows throughout 2012.

MM - What are your goals for 2012?
Martin
- Live shows - tours - making a new album.... try to find out what's best for the band and what direction we are heading, maybe say hello to new members, maybe try to step up the ladder and get more noticed around the world and of course keep up the spirit in making a new album.

MM - Your next album is your seventh, have you ever thought about using a different style – such as a concept album/story based album?
Martin
- Story based albums??!, Cain Wich is the biggest character in Iron Fire history, has a lot of stories to tell.  We just did a space concept Sci-fi album called 'Voyage of the Damned'...

MM - Is there anywhere you would love to play but haven’t had the opportunity yet?
Martin
- Roskilde - Wacken - Sweden Rock . .. You name it ... the list is long .. Invite us and we come -- well paid of course :D

MM - What’s been your favourite gig to play to date?
Martin
- All gigs are favorites usually.... but 2007 Philips Halle in Germany with WASP, DORO, etc.

MM - Who have been the best band to play with?
Martin
- Demon and Seven Witches tour Witches and the 2007 Blade of Triumph tour.

MM - And the worst?
Martin
- High n' Dry .. the f*ckers won't leave the stage and costs us 7 minutes of playing time .. ( 2007 tour).

MM - Has there ever been a time when you have wanted to give up?
Martin
- Yes when we get a lot of interviews to answer ... but that is the normal part to handle if you are famous in the whole universe MUAHAHAHAHAH.  Actually sometimes it can be really hard to face when you are out of record deals and contracts ... shall we continue or start a whole new project.  But we realize that every time we make a great album.  It triggers to keep up making a new one, in blood and frustrations we shall overcome.

MM - Any parting words of wisdom or messages you’d like to share with our readers?
Martin
- We honestly do what we can to satisfy all metal-heads and fans out there, but as a band and as a challenge, we have to try go ways that maybe are not in taste of every listeners or fans , we are sorry If we disappoint any fans or listeners on future albums. But hey we are still metal, we just try to give our listeners the best artwork we can do, every time we do an album, it's not meant to scare any away, this is meant to be THE GREATEST METAL FOR THE GREATEST FANS :-)
