Artist: Kinch Date: Autumn 2000 |
| MM - Introduce
the band to us. Kinch consists of three members: Haris: Vocals & Guitar Malte: Drums Zacki: Bass & Vocals MM - When was the band formed and how did you all meet? The Band formed in April 1999. Haris and I met with the help of a german magazine and decided to give it a try. A few weeks later we found our bass player, Zacki. Thanks to his vocal talent he managed it to fit in very well into the band. MM - Where does the band call home? Kinch's home is based in Munich. MM - Describe your music and who would it appeal to? Kinch can basically be described as Stoner Rock with clean vocals which often remind the listeners of a mixture between Kyuss and Alice in Chains. MM - Are you signed/unsigned at present? Kinch is signed to the dutch label Freebird Records at the moment. MM - Do you have any CD's out at the moment and where can they be obtained? We have our debut out through Freebird Recs since July 2000. That CD was released as a split EP together with another german band called Shard (Daredevil Recs.) MM - Are any members of the band involved with other bands? Yes, Zacki and me, we have another band called SCOFF. Check us out at http://www.scoff.de That site should be available the next month. MM - Who writes and composes the songs you perform? Almost all work is done by Haris, who composes the riffs and the vocals. Zacki and me add the bass lines and the drums. MM - Is all of your music original material or do you do cover versions as well? Basically we play only our own music. Live, we sometimes do a cover. (e.g. Goatsnake - Hi Pete!) MM - Do you have any gigs lined up for the future? Since in July and August we were quiet busy, we have no gigs planned for the next few weeks. But hopefully additionally gigs will follow MM - Who designs your posters/flyers/CD covers? All flyers are designed by Zacki. Well, he's the only one to own a computer. MM - Has the internet influenced the way the band project their songs and their image? I think that without the internet we'd never have had the opportunity to get signed neither to get know by people from all over the globe nor to be able to give you that interview. In my opinion 'KINCH' would even exist if there was no internet. MM - Which band/artist has influenced you the most and why? Everybody in the band has his own favs. I'm not quiet sure about the other two but I'm completely mad about the mighty 'Alice in Chains' or 'Tool'. MM - What was the last band you saw in concert? Well, my last concert......STING....and let me tell ya he really rocked the show. I almost had to cry since I didn't expect a human being to be that impressive on stage. MM - What the most important thing to the band right now? The most important thing for the band. Hmm, might sound a bit strange but we are very busy in our jobs at the moment so we can't really think about the band. But at the moment we entered a studio to record two new songs. So band related, we hope to get a little bit more known/ listened in the stoner scene. For the future we intend to record a whole album and hopefully find a label that will pay us the recording. (Pepijn relax - hehehe - no need to worry at the moment!!!) MM - Lastly, what short phrase would best describe the bands and its members? AIC from the desert - Hula and Good-Bye!!! |
