Artist:  Lawsuit City

Date:  8 April 2005

MM - Introduce the band members to us and explain what each member’s role is.
Hello, I’m Andrew the LEAD guitarist and vocalist out of the band. I’m sitting with Paul, Alex and Sam.  Hmmm Paul …well he is the queer handed guitarist and probably lead vocalist out of us, he wants lots of attention, lol.  Sam is the one who needs hidden away from the band, he scares all the children. And is the bassist, and of course Alex is our drummer, one thing about Alex is before we took him into the band we had to realize we wouldn’t get ANY girls or beer ever again!!!

MM - When was the band first formed and how has it evolved to its current membership?

The band was formed early 2003.  We had a drummer who couldn’t drum, which was a bit of a problem to say the least. Then a few months ago we met Alex on a street corner, kicking’ in my friend, he seemed to have a knack for hitting things, so we put a drum kit in front of him and hey presto … a band.

MM - What’s the band called, where did the name come from and can you remember some of the other names you considered before deciding on this one?

Our band was originally called ‘Dead On Arrival’ until the drummer out of the “original” DOA threatened to take legal action.  So that’s how our new name ‘Lawsuit City’ came about.  It was actually in the studio that we named it.  S.T.D. was also in the pot.  However, Andrew was suffering from syphilis and threatened to sue.  I quote “every penny we have and will earn in the next 10 years”... so we decided otherwise.

MM - How would you describe your style of music and who do you think it would most appeal to?

I think our style is a bit different to punk rock but has the same traits, like the four chord style. We think that it will appeal to people who suffer from deafness, lol.

MM - What bands/artists have influenced you the most over the years?

Blink 182, Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, Fenix TX, Bad Religion, The Ataris etc.

MM - What's been your best/worst gig experience as a rock fan?

Andrew - for me the best gig I’ve ever been to was Blink 182 in Manchester, and the worst gig was our gig at the skate park in exhibition park.
Paul – erm ... well Blink was good and Green Day this year was good. I can’t ever remember a bad gig.
Sam - Green Day was immense, the all day buffet was great.
Alex - The Foo Fighters at the arena was amazing, same as Nickelback was the worst was gig I’ve been to.

MM - Given that not everyone wants to be discovered through competitions likes the X Factor and Pop Idols, do you think there is enough support for fresh new talent out there?

Well actually I think there is a massive increase in the British acts that have come about lately, but then again they are all indie bands and there haven’t been a big punk band from Britain since like the sex pistols about 20 years ago.
Andrew - “indie rocks”.

MM - What do you like to do in your spare time?

We refuse to disclose our personal life without our lawyer present, we’ve got in too much trouble thanks to that exact question, lol.

MM - If you could perform with any band out there right now, who would it be and why?

Paul -  I would say Hanson or the Spice Girls but that’s impossible isn’t it? Lol.
Andrew - I wanna perform with The Killers or Green Day at a huge festival because Brandon Flowers and Billie Joe are sex gods.
Alex - I would love to perform with My Chemical Romance or Green Day so we could show them up lmao.
Sam - Rage Against The Machine if they were still together R.I.P coz they kick my ass.

MM - Are the band optimists or pessimists?  Is the glass half full or half empty?

I would say we see the glass as ¾ full. We can only get better from here and lets face it we are good. Lol.
Alex - I would say that its empty because when you went to the toilet before I kinda drank it, sorry guys.

MM - Does rock have an age tag to it? i.e. Are you ever too old or too young to rock?

I think too young maybe, too old never, I mean look at Iggy Pop.  He’s what ... 75? lol.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

We all think that Alex’s kid is a very important factor to us. Lol. And getting somewhere with our music.

MM - What are your views on the current music scene?

Shite!

MM - What's the 'grand plan' for your band? Are you aiming for anything like fame, fortune, artistic acceptance etc?

It wouldn’t be bad, but we are really enjoying playing music together and as long as that is our main priority then we shouldn’t  go far wrong.

MM - What one possession could you simply not live without?

Paul - my bed.
Andrew - my penis.
Alex – beer.
Sam - fridge oh yeah ... and our instruments. Yeah ... they’re … important.

MM - How can our readers find out more about the band, do you have a website they could check out?

www.lawsuitcity.com would be a start. Lol.

MM - Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to all our readers out there?

Andrew - Please donate money for Alex’s rehab course.
Paul - Yeah and Sam’s “get back my fridge campaign” he really needs it.  He’s getting pretty crazy without it.
Sam - Yeah please.
Alex - Just give me money!!!!  I need 2 buy a pram 4 me kid number 2 call for donations is 07752510012 and have your bank details ready!
